Exaggerated

South Central LA is not that bad atall. Infact the murder rate is quite low when compared to other places in the US. I've been through places like Compton and I never got shot. These movies will have you believe that you will get shot simply for wearing the wrong colors etc. It's not like that tho atall. If you don't want trouble then stay out of the gang culture and you will live a peaceful life. It really is that simple.

Just because you drove through Compton and didn't get shot, does not mean that it isn't one of the most violent environments in our country. I live in Los Angeles and I respect what Stacey Peralta is doing, he is shedding light on an issue that has been thrown aside for decades. I am gonna paraphrase what Stacey said on K&B, if white kids from Beverly Hills and Pacific Palisades started shooting each other with AK47's, that would be on the news and the government would regulate the masses, but with the Crips and the Bloods, our government just throws more police officers at them with no sign of stopping. These kids in these gangs need to have a better community, and that can't happen unless our government gives South Central some funding for better schools, after school programs, etc...

I know their are more violent places in the United States, but this is where the Crips and the Bloods were founded, it is the epicenter of gang-banging, and we need to examine the source to solve the rest.

I too live in Los Angeles and I know first hand that stuff can get real out here.

You go in the wrong neighborhood at the wrong time and you will get blasted. There are some dudes out here if you look at them wrong will blast yo ass. Gang-wise out here, the Blacks and Lations aint playing. Try them if you want to and see what happens. Watch out for the Samoans too.

why do blacks always blame everyone else for their fecking problems? there was a doc done on sky tv about the female members of these gangs a few weeks back and they, the girls told how they have to have sex with any gang member that wants it AND GET NO CHOICE. Now the white man does not make them do that. This race needs to take a long hard look at themselves and cop the feck on as they are responsible for their own actions, the white man did not make them sell crack to children, murder innocent people like that poor sw ine in LA during the 92 riots, where they showed the world what vile SCUM members of this race really is, by burning to the ground their fellow black man's shops and business. And b4 anyone jumps on the bull sh*t, he's racist bandwagon, there is not one shop in Ireland that says no blacks where as we have 5 shops in Dublin stating NO WHITES ALLOW, now is that not fecking racists

I have never and I will never subscribe to the theory that it is the White Man's fault for any of my problems. Your post was on point. Lets face it one of the biggest reasons why Whites like to live in the Suburbs or far away places is because of low-class Blacks. And I don't blame them. I used to get mad when whites used to move out of neighborhoods because of Blacks moving in and now I understand. You give Blacks their own neighborhoods (Little Rock Arkansas; Compton, Watts, South LA; Memphis, Tennessee etc.)and they'll find a way to make them unsafe and *beep* up. Blacks need to wake up and realize THEY are responsible for most of if not all of their own problems. Real Talk!

I have to agree with you. I watched this documentary last night and I felt that there was too much blame on white people. Those interviewed seemed to carry a very blase attitude about the situation - "it is what it is" "this is how we live." They are not giving themselves or the future generations a fair chance. You would think that with all the depictions of death and incarceration that these males would desire to change their lives. With all the talk of their "homeboys" dying, why would they not seek to end the violence? Most of what they spoke of was about getting retaliation for some perceived disrespect. Continuing this attitude guarantees the cycle of gang warfare, incarceration, and death.

There's a pretty big difference between going through Compton and living there.

"I am Jack's wasted life."
