Explosions in the Sky??

So I caught the last 15 minutes of this movie and in the final scene and credits Explosions in the Sky was playing. I was very excited and surprised to hear this song playing, I didn't know this song had reached the ears of the film makers in Israel. As much as they play American music in foreign countries, it's too bad foreign music isn't as popular in america.

i thought the same thing as i probably watched the same viewing you did. The rest of the movie had ethnic music so hearing the first guitar plucks of First Breath after coma was surprising. But it was also awesome since i just saw them last night in New York play for their biggest crowd. if you get a chance to see them, go. As for the movie, it was a beautiful ending scene and went along with the rest of the movie. Some would call it boring and anti-climactic but it kept with it's style and the music definitely helped.

What i can say about other countries that i've gone to is that surprisingly, and unfortunately, they jump on a lot of our music trends, but it always seems a few months delayed. The good music scenes are kept up to date though through peer to peer and file trading websites. With the record companies tanking and drawing for straws as they charge over 20 dollars for a CD and $50 bucks a concert ticket, a new vigor has been put in independent touring, especially international. So bands are now working with more indie labels and promoters to bring them overseas. Mainstream media and mediocre music outlets haven't embraced this as much due to lack of foreign knowledge, cost/benefit analysis and a little xenophobia. Thats just my opinion though. You struck on a point by saying foreign music is not appreciated here. We are taught to fear what we don't know and it seems the only thing that is imported here musically wise is either dance pop or watered down music stuck at the end of the aisle in a supermarket. As a society of music "lovers" we are lucky to hear maybe 5% of the music being produced from radio, television and other forms of media. Satellite radio and international markets are now changing that, slowly. But in America, we still feel the need to be the best and have the most and be the rich kid in the sandbox not sharing toys. Hopefully we can get over that BS and enjoy art, whether it be music, movies or other art from all over the world. Because, lets face it.... talent isn't determined by made-up geographical boundaries.

thats a long winded post to agree with the author.
thanks for your time
