I was watching this movie on an AirFrance flight, and didn't get to see the ending because we were making our descent. As I doubt I will be able to find it in my local Blockbuster, would someone please tell me what happens at the end of President to Mathieu, Nahema and her father?

I am not realy sure of what the ending meant, as it was quite weird. Here it is for you anyways :

Mathieu and Nahema leave Paris, drive quite far (you can guess it by the fact that they leave Paris at night, and the next scene is hapening during the day in some kind of mountains). The army is blocking the road, Mathieu and Nahema get out of their car. The President walks towards her daughter, holds her in his arms, and says "you are my daughter". Then she steps back, and the movie is over.
Yes, the ending is very ambiguous, but thank you so much for the details! I really thought I'd never find out, and happened to just check back here now. If I can, I will try to rent the movie. Merci beacoup again for the spoiler! I very much appreciate it!
shareI just saw the movie and I confess that I was completely puzzled by the end as well. This is not am open en, this is an unfinished end. The person who missed the end because the entertainment program in the airplane was over may have not missed anything, or if the movie ended a few minutes earlier it would have been the same.
If somebody has an explanation about what really happended or what the end means, please let me know!
Basically it means that no matter how influencial the president can be ... no matter how much power he holds ... he , in the end ... is still a empty character ... a stranger to his daughter ...
Another thing to note is the "woman" issue ...First , his daughter doesn't seems to be "The President's Daughter" ... but more like another typicall girl you cross in the street ... Two , his wife ... i mean was that even his wife ? ... no wonder he does have some different woman companions ...
So there you have it , its the story of man surrounded by typical uninteresting people and trying to prove that he is someone special ... but the world is full of problems ... so much that he has to get rid of his friends in order to keep his throne ... unfortunatly he is left with nothing in the end ... and that wasn't what he wanted ...
Not so much people was left happy in the end ... and look what the film started with ... a party ...
