The cute kids get far more screen time. The big budget Diaz film is a train wreck in that the funniest 5 seconds were shown in ths previews, the aging actress looks disturbingly botoxed and weird. The substitute starts off with a weak 10 minutes, but gets better and better as it goes on. Bad Teacher gets worst and worst as it goes on. The Substitute thinks outside the box in showing 2 boy classmates that seemingky care for each other, among bullies, yet they sit apart and are not quite friends. What a break from the norm. Also, a popular girl is discovered digging the cute, but geeky boy with the buckteeth. They avoided the easy route of her having a crush on the msterious hearthrob who sits in the back of the room reminiscing about his dead mother. These 2 subtle cliche breakers make this film worth pondering.
