English dub?

Has anyone seen the English dub version? I HATE dubbed versions and prefer the subbed copy, but it's the only version that's available so far. How terrible is it?

Actually the DVD that is coming out tomorrow offers your choice of English Dubbed or English Subtitled with the original Danish language.

Dutch language?

The original language of this movie is Danish!!

Just saw this movie.

The whole thing was very witty and well done. The kids themselves did a fantastic job.

My main complaint about the dubs is that they did not appear to use real children's voices for many of the main characters.

so overall its a pretty good english dub?

The dubbing was awful, it reminded me of an asian cartoon like dragon ball z or pokemon. It wouldn't have bothered me if it had actually been an asian movie.
I think I am going to rewatch it using the english subtitles.

I wear Duchovnys Pajama Bottoms and Keifer's T-Shirt to bed.

It's REALLY bad. I couldn't even get through it.

I don't agree. The dubbing is not flawless - it's not an Italian movie - but I have seen it done far worse.
Of course if possible you have to watch it in Danish with subtitles. As Vikaren was on Surinamese TV yesterday evening I had no choice.

The dubbing was awful. Most of the kids' voices were definitely done by adults pretending to be kids, and sounding ridiculous. I watched about 20 minutes of the dubbed version out of curiousity and quickly switched to the subtitles.

reply

Yeah,I agree this *beep* (watching now because I'm bored) is horrible.

reply

LOL, ok it wasnt just me that thought the kids sounded ridiculous, especially the little bookworm girl who's parent was a teacher! Other than that, I'm a little intrigued by whats going to happen (watching it on FearNet right now).

All dubbed movies are horrible, but this dubbing job is so bad it completely ruins the movie.
I saw it first in Danish with subtitles, and thought it was great.
Then I watched the Director's Commentary, which is in English, so you have to watch the dubbed version in English at the same time.
The dubbed version makes it sound like Pokemon.
Don't even bother seeing a foreign movie if you don't want to read subtitles.
Just keep watching US movies that were made for the target demographic, because that's probably what would appeal to you anyway.
