When I read about him in high school (about 10 years ago) I had nightmares. He was truly evil. He pretended to be a senile old man when really he was a demon (not in the exorcist way, mind you..but maybe....) I really hope they do this story justice but I have a really bad feeling this will be a horrible movie and will not get the entire story straight. *sighs* Everyone should read "Black House" by Stephen King and Peter Straub. It has a little about Fish. Plus it is a really great book.
X_Pixies "Wherever she went including here was against her better judgement"
I first read about the crimes committed by Albert Fish two years ago and I was absolutely horrifed. Albert Fish was a sick and twisted monster, what kind of person in their right frame of mind can lure children away from their homes to murder, mutilate and devour, the term 'bogey man' describes Albert Fish best. I too hope that they do justice in illustrating Albert Fish's story, although I am eager to see it, I agree that it will be a horrible film
I first heard about him a few years ago and recently looked him up on Wikipedia. It's horrific. How can they make a movie about him when small children are presumed to be molested, tortured and eaten?
I agree. There is something in our psychology that draws us to horror, people like to be scared. Serial killers are perfect in this regards as they represent real life horror. Albert Fish stands as a perfect example
I would hope that people who pre-judge this movie as "horrible" before they even see it might give it a chance first. Yes, Albert Fish was a monster, and maybe this film will tell the story honestly, allowing the audience to make their own judgments.
There is a book published about Albert Fish called "Deranged" by Harold Schechter which tells his whole story. Schechter has also written about H H Holmes of Chicago who is supposed to be America's first serial killer. One thing I found out was that Albert Fish was related to Hamilton Fish, the governor of New York, among other people.
I grew up in one of his old neighborhoods (East 100 street) in the mid 70's. His legend was repeated many times during childhood (Boogy man and the Gray man)not knowing the (neighborhood)history behind the legend. Upon finding out the story of Fish it makes me cringe.
May god rest the souls of the little ones he took.
