What's the deal with the little girl's mother? (Possible spoilers)


Why did she constantly lead the investigation down the wrong path by identifying people she knew were not Frank Howard? Also, why was she always craving attention from the press? She seemed more interested in that then getting justice for daughter. I just didn't get her behavior.

I haven't seen the movie, though from what I've read about the real-life case, the mother just seemed so anxious to find her daughter's killer that she became a little overzealous and "identified" any older man that vaguely resembled Albert Fish.

I think the movie portrayed her as a few cans short of a sixpack, actually.

I simply am not there...

It's correct that the mother was over zealous and [appeared to] honestly believe each person she fingered was Albert.
