I watched this on Comedy Central last night. With heavy censorship and editing, they absolutely butchered this film. I mean, why bother even putting it on air??

I never knew this was an issue until I lived in the US for a year... I remember watching this edited version of Commando on TV... after that I stopped watching films on TV unless it was on cable channels such as HBO etc.

But I agree... if you have to edit the film then you might as well don't bother...

Agreed.

I mean, I understand it's on television and for public viewing. I could ignore a few edits and bleeped out words here and there. But when the entire thing is censored and edited...it becomes rather pointless.

I never undestood the need to censor films... We do not do it in Denmark... There might be a warning before the movie starts or it is on late at night were kids should be a sleep anyways...

Well I give Denmark credit for that. Here in America, our television broadcasts are more than glad to show violence and murder on tv...but somehow cussing and nudity is considered over the top.

i refuse to watch movies on cable TV for this same reason, I watched the 40 year old virgin a while back on TV and they ruined that as well.

They buy them edited. They have a version for tv that accommodates runtime, commercials and content. No, CC doesn't need to edit the content, but they probably aren't going to bother doing an exclusive edit for their channel, and it's possible they aren't contractually allowed to. Also, CC has pretty much had self censorship from it's inception, only allowing uncensored material after midnight.
