Nausea

Maybe I'm overly sensitive to such things, but I found the constant cutting and swooping camera to be extremely dizzying. I had to stop watching halfway through because of a severe headache. Is this a common reaction, and does this characterize other Malick films?

It was a style that started to show up in the New World and really became his signature style with The Tree of Life. All his previous films to the New World were much more restrained.

As said above, there was a little of it in The New World, but really hit fever pitch here. It didn't give me a headache but I do think there is a bit too much swoop hand-held camerawork at times in this film, along with the rapid editing. My favorite Malick film is The Thin Red Line, which isn't really like that at all.
