The gangsters ruined it for me, along with Rain's ability to conquer everything. It seemed so unrealistic and quite comedic.
Was it meant to be comedic? If so, then I will lighten up a bit. But, anyway, the girl could sing, so, that was good. I liked the music for sure. Khandi Alexander, and Faye Dunaway were great in their roles, but, the movie still lacked the depth that I was looking for.
Yep the gangsters were way over the top.
shareI'm really disappointed. I haven't even seen the film but from what I hear they just made the story typical and trivial. I was so excited when I heard they were making Rain's story. What were the odds of them making that story? But all I had to do was read the back cover and be disappointed. Before it was even released I was afraid of what they would do with it, her being black there is just so much of a risk that they would go the stereotypical route. If you're going to do VC amdrews you have to do her right, forget pulling in the masses with a cheesy storyline.
