I would rather see.....

.........a movie based on V.C. Andrews Cutler or Castel series. Those IMO are the best, besides the Dollanganger series, which is where Flowers in the Attic came from.

I would like to see either the Casteel or Landry series made into a movie.

Definatly Laundry, Gemini or Dawn. I think those are the most messed up of the books besides Dollanganger. I think they would make excelent movies. I wasn't too impressed with Rain. IT was ok but I liked her daughters story better and I wish they did one with her mom or grandma so that it could be more understood of why things turned out how it did. Like most of the other series.

Like in the movie they didn't do they whole brother and sister thing together at the lake... I have to say that I am kinda grateful!
Phantom: Christine I love you.

Personally, I think that My Sweet Audrina would do the best. Of course, a Flowers in the Attic remake would be awesome too. I don't know if I'd like the Casteel or Landry movies, only because I didn't find Gates of Paradise, Web of Dreams, All that Glitters, or Tarnished Gold all that interesting. All four of those books were very predictable and somewhat boring. The Cutler series would be okay, but I don't know how well it would do because Dawn was such a slut. I think that the Logan series would be really good, though, because Melody was not as much of a hypocryte as Dawn was, and always kept to her morals. Also, I think it would be cool to see Music in the Night. This series, in my opinion, was realistic, and yet still gothic. It, like the Dollanagnger Series, had many different facets. I think either of these series would do great.

Wow, you know what that's amazing, John Saul and VC Andrews are my two favorite authors also. I just finished reading John Saul's new book and have started April

reply

Oh my god, My Sweet Audrina would make an EXCELLENT movie. I've been hoping someone would do one for years. I could see that being a massive blockbuster.

reply

Dawn was a slut?

reply

They were actually considering doing a mini series on Ruby but it got bumped for Rain instead. I was personally disappointed when I found that out, seeing as how the Landry series is my favorite out of all of them.

reply

I would like to see them go a miniseries on the Orphan Series with the Runaway book as the plot and each girl have her own story as flash backs....

reply

That is such a good idea. I was hoping they'd do something similar with the Wildflower series. I always thought that "Into the Garden" would make an awsome movie.

reply

I would love if they made the Orphan miniseries into a movie! that's a great idea and i think it can get to be a movie with good crtitics. I also think that the Wildflowers are great candidates for this I mean "Into the Garden" is such a great book I definitely think they should consider it. The Shooting Star series is great but i haven't yet read Falling Stars!

reply

[deleted]

Well they should just do all of them without screwing anything up... ie plots characters etc

I would rather see My SWeet Audrina!! Or a Flowers in The attic remakE!!

reply

I love the RAIN series and I would also like to see the Wildflowers series, Orphans, and My Sweet Audrina as movies.

reply

Well there's a rumor MTV wants to make runaways into a movie

I think Heaven series should be made into an HBO minseries but after Flowers in the Attic gets justfully remade(hopefully by Sofia Copella who is in fact a die hard VCA fan)

I would rather see RAIN 2006. TO ponder "what if..." is always easy to do. That is fine to ponder what might be a good movie: There is nothing wrong with that, at all. That is the beauty of movie making. The consideration about this premise versus that other one. The thing is... this new movie is in the box, and hopefully all the money and hard work will pay off some way when it hits the festivals, the big screen, and DVD sales. The main thing I like about this movie "Rain" is that it has a chance to appeal over many age groups, and show contrast over different genrations and racial lines: to show that a family is held together through conflict, trials and tribulation. This is what stands the test of time. This is what makes a good story ring true. There was some fine acting, and the production over came any trouble the script may have had. I am sure that many other stories in the book series would make for a fine movie. The thing is that taking a book, and making it into a viable movie premise makes the book translation imperfect, at best. Many good stories could come from the other books, and other premises could hold together a bit better, than this one. The thing is once the intial movie is made then there is a foundation to build from, where there was none before. So it is trial and error in anything from acting to movie making. It is imperfect at best, but well worth the journey to get there. That makes the price of a movie ticket worth the while.

you obvioulsy haven't read other VC Andrews books texasjoe, read them before you say Rain would make the best movie

reply

[deleted]

I never said it would be the "BEST movie." I said it was "a good foundation to build from." The best of anything is a personal preference. (Some like Coke better, some like Pepsi. Some like Dr. Pepper...) You like what you like. I will not get into a shouting contest over what has merit, and what does not. That is all IMDB has become lately. I did not make the choice of which book became a movie, other than be a part of the production for close to a month. I felt that the movie had some merit since it has been made: versus most of the fare that gets made into movies these days. That was my point, JCG. It was a good place to start. That does not mean it is the best book to start from. I am not the producer, or director of this one. We could argue until doomsday over what is preferred over what isn't: we could fill up 100 blogs with that kind of arguement. Your point is well taken: there are better books in the series. "Yes, JCG: there are better books from the series." I have not read ALL of them.(Bad texasjoe.) I will not argue over one book as a movie premise versus the other. I am a published author, and I have a script being considered for production in 2006, so I know a few things about what I am talking about. I have not lived 50 years by being stupid. Good luck with your career.

I would so want to see Laura Logan's story (Music in the Night) be made into a movie! That's like my fave.

Hi Starkitty,

I agree, id love to see a film based on the casteel series. Actually, that is what i hope to accomplish in life. I wish to make Heaven into a film. I love the story and i love the concept. I have my own idea's about who should play who as well. I wouldn't mind seeing a film based on the logan series as well.

Oh god, what I would die for to see the Dollangers on the big screen. The story was very provocative and dramatic. Maybe it's only me, but the book reminded me of a sicker version of "Closer". Natalie would play a great Catherine. And, the best Julian would be James Franco.

I never read Rain, so I wouldn't know if it should be made into a movie or not.

reply

i would like to see landy or cutler or casteel....

reply

I think I would like to see the Logan series go on film. But part of me would rather not. I think that movies often make the book seem less than what it is. Or worse. But I STILL enjoy seeing the movies. But if i could pick a series it would be the Logan series or the Celeste/Black Cat/Child of Darkness. Thanx. =)

I would love to see THe Ruby or Heaven series made into movies. They are such rich stories. Plus, when they make books into movies, it gives them a chance to fix things, in order to make a succesful transition. I would also like to see the shooting stars made into some sort of movie. They were pretty weak novels, but there's alot of potential.

If I had to choose one I would want My Sweet Audrina made into a film (as long as it does not star Dakota Fanning----I love her but she is too...something...I don't know just not right for the part) Anyway....of course I would also LOVE a FITA remake as would everyone else. I think Dawn might make a good TV series. Heaven would be a great HBO mini-series and so would Ruby.

reply

Music in the Night and Celeste would make great movies. I think it would be a box office hit. The Casteel, Landry, and Orphan Series would make great TV mini-series.

It Stays The Same

Heaven definately! One of the few that VCA still had a hand in before she passed. Rain was ok but the others were much better for making a movie out of! Ane there really needs to be a remake of Flowers in the Attic! Because I hated the so called movie they made! It was almost nothing like the books! If you cant stay true to the books and the original story I'd rather use my imagination!

reply

The order in which I think the book should be adapted into film

1)FITA remake/doll series
2)My Sweet Audrina
3)Dark Angel(her final masterpiece)/casteel series
4)Ruby
5)Dawn
6)Logan
and last Rain(which is a carbon copy of the Dawn series and plus not one word in Rain was penned by VCA, it's just wrong that HIS GW novels are getting made into a movie and not her true work which is ten time better)

Visit my casting site, not only does it have great casting but fake movie posters designed after the stepbacks that make the Rain site look like crap.

Ive read them all and love every one of them...cant wait till the new one comes out in feb....I would love to see the whole series of Flowers in the attic filmed.....think that would be awesome.....

reply

Completly Agree!

I read the Logan series first, and was hooked. I went back and started from the beginning and read through all of the original VC Andrew's stories. I can't believe He is using her name to sell books.

I once read that she had a notebook full of characters, and he takes bits and pieces and pastes the ideas into stories. The biggest problem I had with the books after the Ruby series was that they were all the same. There was nothing that stood out and made me want to continue reading on. I liked the idea behind the Wildflowers and Runaways, but still haven't really read through any of those. At least not in the same way I was drawn to the other series.

I know I'm behind the times... I just recently got an email about the Rain movie being out on dvd. I just am so surprised that the VC Andrews camp/family doesn't fight for her actual books to be reworked into movies...

Thank you for saying what I was thinking all the way along in this thread.

Personally i would like to see the casteel series however from just watching Rain i found that it was rushed and so puts doubts on whether or not any other series brought to the big screen would do the same thing
