NIGHTMARE MAN is #1 DVD of 2007 Horrorfest!!

I'm happily amazed to find out from After Dark that NIGHTMARE MAN has become the number one bestselling DVD of the 2007 Horrorfest. Thank-you to all the supporters who bought, rented, and enjoyed the film. All of your interest and discussions on this board and other websites have helped make this the DVD highlight of the set! Some of you liked it and some hated it but the key is that you talked about it and that word of mouth is what made all the difference. The worst thing that can happen to any film is it gets ignored. Thank you all for not ignoring NIGHTMARE MAN and I guess the blend of horror and comedy worked for many people who kept an open mind. The film should be screening sometime in October on Sci-Fi Channel for those who missed it. It is also now on iTunes. Obviously, Lions Gate and After Dark are very excited by the success and next January 2009, there will be another EIGHT FILMS TO DIE FOR coming to movie theaters near you.

NIGHTMARE MAN was the small underdog film of the festival and to have this kind of success is really a dream come true. For the record, I think that MULBERRY STREET was the scariest of the bunch. DEATHS OF IAN STONE was by far the slickest with the coolest premise and 11 million to back it up. And the true story behind BOARDERLAND on the DVD is fascinating. Personally, the others didn't grab me but that's the great thing about Horrorfest. It allows smaller, non-studio films to be seen by the public. So far, the remake of PROM NIGHT and THE STRANGERS have been the two biggest grossing horror films of the year. Are they the best? Many would disagree but they got the exposure and the studio push. That is what stops so many horror films from finding their audiences. Even though, people may not like all of the Horrorfest films, and I know many didn't care for NIGHTMARE MAN (just ask Howiebaby), it is great that someone is giving these films a shot to be seen. And for that reason alone, After Dark's Horrorfest should be supported and applauded. They may just uncover the next great horror film out there so here's hoping!

The film cost just over $100,000 to produce. With post-production, it came to about $200,000 and then another $50,000 was spent to go to film with an answer print. The film was shot in 15 days. Most of the films in Horrorfest cost between 2-6 million dollars. Hence why our film and Mulberry Street look a lot cheaper.

Also, unforuntately the DVD transfer of the film is not great. It has looked better but we did shoot on digital so it really can't compete with "Hollywood" movies.

Nightmare Man was the best horror movie I've seen in years! It had an Evil Dead, The Tempter, and The Strangers aspect to it. LOVED IT. I'm watching it on my computer right now. This is already in heavy rotation in my DVD player

Yes, I'm sure Liv would LOOOOVE to be in a $250K horror film.

Probably gets tired being in all those 9-figure LOTR flicks.

Movies like Nightmare Man become even more hilarious when people see the cover... get all pumped and raise their expectations, only to be crushed by some hilariously awesome ESL actor named Bill scaring his cinemax-softcore porn actress of a wife with some silly mask for no reason whatsoever. I wonder how many "movie nights" Nightmare Man has ruined for pretentious jerks that can't handle slapstick horror. I found it more entertaining than The Strangers. But thanks to everyone that got all butt-hurty about "Nightmare Sham" I believe you called it... it makes it twice as awesome to people that get it.

Take credit for anything embedded in the edit, so long as you meant it when you said it.
