things that didnt add up

The picture of ally and mr. gibb kissing was taken by amber. Did she mysteriously fall off the face of the earth after that, because if not, she should have seen mr. gibb going into the house.

allys hair at the end, like i wouldnt notice the driver of the car im in, holding a considerable amount of hair...

another thing that bothered me, was amber ridiculing mr. gibb for looking at a younger girl. hypocrite.

Excuse me????

what don't you get?

Also when she was kidnapped, the kidnapper abducted her by putting a bowling bag over her head. Then at the end you see the same bowling bag in Mr. Gibb's Girlfriend's hand when she's getting into the truck. He and the girlfriend were in it together, IMHO.

wow, very interesting thought. Maybe you should have written this film.

i think you are giving them too much credit. more likely the director did not notice, or care, the same bag was being used.

reply

That was NOT the bowling bag in Holly's hand - it was a backpack. Look again.

amber not seeing the kidnapping was a huge hole in the plot.

the hair, he could have easily removed it from a shirt pocket.

i saw amber's character as part of the plot. she was supposed to be a hypocrite. she would not have understood what the teacher wanted to do, without having slept with a man old enough to be her father, herself.

This movie was so stupid. When he collects hair, how does that contribute to the ends justifying the means other than some stupid fetish. And why would he throw out the hair with the girlfriend in the truck? So stupid. Also, not to mention what others said about his kidnapping the girl with Amber taking the picture just moments before. Since the ending indicates that he is the kidnapper, why the hell would he not worry if Amber saw him kidnap the girl? his only anger seemed to be about her taking the picture. THere was nothing in the confrontation scene where he was trying to figure out if she knew about the kidnapping or not.

The reality of the matter is Mr. Gibb threw away the lock of hair, because he did not need it anymore ( it was basically a metaphor for his past life, as well as a keepsake of Ally( obviously since Ally was going with him, he did not need it)). Amber was a totally hypocrite who was shacking up with Ally's dad herself, and when she found out he was cheating on her ( thanks to Mr. Gibb), she turned him into the cops on statutory rape charges She actually owed Gibbs one, so she was not telling.
The thing to keep in mind about Gibbs was kidnapping Ally was about making her dad pay for his truck and everything else bad he did. He was basically oblivious to life. In fact, the thing that woke him up was how his fellow teacher was shacking up with girls . Even Ally pointed out he never had anyone over in six years.when he found out about the other teacher, then he went to get Ally and they left together. Basically the entire town ( except Ally) we're nasty and (or) clueless people ( sort of like the film itself totally clueless).

He did not leave with Allie. He left with the next-door neighbor.
