The genres that were put in the film are wrong and he didn't even put all of them yes, there is a new wave of british heavy metal but it wasnt necessary to put it so i will write down the ALL THE REAL metal genres without the bull and big terms
Heavy Metal Thrash Metal Death Metal Power Metal Progressive Metal Doom Metal Gothic Metal Black Metal Glam Metal Speed Metal Melodic Death Metal Melodic Black Metal Symphonic Death Metal Symphonic Black Metal
You're missing folk metal and symphonic metal. Thrash and speed metal are basically the same. Grindcore is worthy of being there since it's largely considered a metal subgenre.
However, as much as I love it, glam metal isn't really considered metal - it's actually hard rock.
Not worth putting all the subgenres down (symphonic death metal doesn't exist, btw) like you did withh symphonic/melodic black metal. Otherwise where is war/bestial black metal, depressive/suicidal black metal, slam death metal, brutal death metal, technical death metal, pagan metal, goregrind etc.?
But yeah, this documentary totally messed up on the genealogy chart. Clearly this guy's not as big a metalhead as he'd like to think.
Ask a hundred metalheads to list the various subgenres and you'll get a hundred different responses. Much as I love metal, the idea of people getting into shouting matches on the interwebs (not saying that's happening here, but it does happen) over whether a particular band is deathcore or melodic death metal or grindcore or whatever is really ridiculous and patently unnecessary.

New Wave of British Heavy Metal not necessary? Are you *beep* kidding me? Priest, Maiden, Motorhead, Tygers of Pan Tang, Saxon, Diamond Head, Holocaust, Accept, early Def Leppard, Witchfynde, Angel Witch, Blitzkrieg, Raven, Tank and MANY MORE don't count?
