Silly but fun for disaster and PA genre lovers

Just finished watching this, and really enjoyed it. The ending was a bit trite and predictable, and the science seemed pretty far-fetched (though no more than the far more distractingly-awful and inaccurate 'Day After Tomorrow', IMO) but overall I found it a fun cross between a post-apocalypse and disaster flick (two of my fave genres) that reminded me of the low-budget straight-to-video flicks I used to love as a kid. In a way, it also reminded me a little of a US-cable-style version of the UK 70's show 'Survivors' (one of my all-time faves) and (much lesser, IMO) UK miniseries 'The Last Train'.

Casper was good in it too, even if he really should have warmed a bit to C.J. after the guy saved his life half a dozen times over! :)

People who rate things like this 'worst movie ever' either don't see nearly enough films, or go in with the wrong expectations of a cheap genre pic like this. IMO, it's no worse than a million dollar Hollywood disaster flick like 'Day After Tomorrow'. 'Daylight' or Spielberg's 'War of the Worlds', and is actually a lot more fun due to the lower expectations I had for it.

Incidentally, I bought this DVD for $2 with a bunch of other cheapies, and it was easily the best of the bunch. I love 'discovering' little films like this that would otherwise be unknown and unheard of but for a random purchase.
