They filmed it in Serbia.

I spent a few days in Belgrade, Serbia, in August 2005. I watched them film a few scenes from the movie there. It was pretty cool. Interestingly, they rigged up the street in downtown Belgrade to look like pre-WWII Rome. I am anxious to see the movie when it comes out.

Cool!
Feel free to tell us more about what scenes, who and what and stuff. :-) I can't wait to see this either!

Everything is fine! I was just swinging from a chandelier without a seat belt.

Sorry it took me so long to get back. I've been busier than a beaver at a tree convention. I couldn't tell you for sure what the scene was about. Danny and Diego walked around the corner of a building and they had all the extras drive/walk by. The put an artificial sign on the front of the building that said Banco di Roma. Interstingly, they exactly covered up where it was written in Serbian on the building. Diego, broke about five cigarettes in half and put them in has cigarette case. I heard him explain to one of the Italian crew members that he did this so he would not have to smoke a cig down to the point for the scene. Just lite and it looks like you've already been puffing for a while.

That's all for now.

Nice one! Cheers for that!

reply

I was near, in deed lovely, Diego Luna on the set (was also one of the extras in the movie) :-) Heard today (from the man who was in charge of extras in the movie, at least for the part that was filmed in Serbia) that it will not be finished in time to take part in Cannes Festival (which is in end of May I think) as it was expected... but anyway seems that those movie-circles-people expect it to get all the other awards 'till the end of year. Cannot wait to see it!!!

reply

Serbia is beautiful.Belgrade is amazing, and people are so nice and gorgeus...

reply

Yeah.

I live in Serbia, in Belgrade, whole my life. Want to hear the truth about Belgrade (btw yes, Beograd is the right name)?

It's all gray, ugly as hell, there are beggars on every corner, no one has money except the criminals (lots of them here). Everyone will try to trick you - if you want to repair something or install air condition or anything, many will try to trick you, anything, just to get as much money as he can. Political situation is very bad, all our banks and firms are getting sold to other countries. People that work anywhere are very often grouchy and obscene. These are only some of the bad things here.

Now the good sides:

Well, that would be all.

@mad celt
you don't sound so bright. So if there is no good things in Belgrade why are you living there all you life?
And by the way Belgrade is great....and Serbia too...
For all of you that haven't been there it's a must...
:))

reply

Mad Celt,
It sound to me that you are not from Belgrade at all... or you have been during the '90s and left the country a long ago.
Or, maybe you just been frustrated ("no good sides" tell a lot about that).

reply

I am sure that those 2 who badmouth Belgrade never even been there. See for yourself how beautiful Belgrade realy is:
