Seeing as this movie is just being released into theatres TODAY, I somehow doubt you can find a place to download it.

Oh, and you guys ever hear of Neflix? It's $15 a month and you don't need to steal crappy, super-compressed versions of movies off of the internet to watch on your computer monitor. You actually watch these movies on your television with this device called a D-V-D player. Amazing stuff.

You know how it is... rockin'... rollin'... and what not.

"super-compressed versions of movies off of the internet to watch on your computer monitor."

I'm not sure which age you live in. Or do you live in a desert somewhere?

reply

The age I live in is today. And no, I don't live in a desert. I live in a little podunk town called New York City.

Then you should know about these new fangled contraptions called dvd burners, which actually enable the computer user to make a physical non compressed version, and then watch, yes watch, this "dvd" on a tv at the user's house or the house of a friend.

reply

Well... if you are downloading it off of the internet, then it is super-compressed. Chances are, any movie file you download will be compressed into much less than a gig, and it's not like you can add in new information after it's been compressed. You can use a program like MPEG streamclip to make full size MPEGs that you can put on a DVD, but it's not going to make the quality any better. Movies on a DVD are already compressed a lot as it is (squeezing a 2+ hour movie onto a disc that holds 4.7 gigs of information is quite a bit of compression).

Dude... if you want to steal movies, that's your perogative. I just don't think it's really cool. That's why I was saying, just use Netflix if you are cheap. That's what I do.

You don't need to talk down to me when talking about video formats. I actually know quite a bit about the subject.

You know how it is... rockin'... rollin'... and what not.

reply

Well, I don't know if I can compete with your extensive knowledge about downloading and formats, but most people where I am download primarily DVD9, DVD5 and Hi-res, then hook their pc up to a TV with a scart or DVI. With a 100/100 line it takes a few minutes, with a slower connection somewhat more obviously. I maintain you're living in a desert -- of some sort. Or perhaps work for Netflix?

reply

Do you realize how crappy 100 lines is? It might look good on an iPod video or a PSP, but that's it.

Oh yeah, and PCs SUCK! Are you living in the stone ages? Unless you are some uber-dork videogamer, everyone should be using Macs.

You know how it is... rockin'... rollin'... and what not.

reply

You're making no sense. 100 Mbps down is all I need. I guess I don't realize it's crappy.

reply

it is showing at the Alamo Theatre in Downtown Austin Texas SEPTEMBER 24-26 & 28

reply

Yeah PCs might suck but Mac has it's pros and cons to. First of all it's a glorified Movie and Music sales store. Go go itunes. I bought the best one made and it freezes up and lags worse than my Home built PC for half the cost. I don't have to have antivirus sure but you can't put an entire computer in a slim monitor and have it work like a real computer. if you want a Mac for performance you'll have to get the tower version and spend a few grand more.

reply

Actually, you're completely wrong.

See, nowadays, you can download full, uncompressed DVD's (not in mpg format, it's .bin or something similar.) You can then either watch them using something like VLCMP, or burn them directly to a DVD. Not only are they uncompressed, but they also have surround sound.

reply

it's still 100% illegal and wrong.

Does no one support the artist, anymore? Because it is Tommy, I will be happy to buy it from the source closest to him, to ensure he gets the biggest cut. He needs our support. Read his book, I Chong: Meditations From The Joint. I have never been in a federal prison before, and it was very insightful for "a regular guy" like me. ;) It also showed me a side of Tommy that I never knew existed.

Bottom line - movies are made to be watched from the comfort of a couch or big chair, with the good speakers on!

Just my opinion...

reply

I second your question. Personally, I need a personal copy of A/K/A Tommy Chong to keep, share with friends and to watch over and over again. I don't have anything against file sharing either (especially since youse guys are driving down the prices on used CDs and DVDs), but I definitely support the independent film and video.
I loved the I-Chong, read it in three sittings (because I was trying to savor it), and was totally impressed.

Below the bottom line, However, I believe movies are made to be watched in the darkness of a packed theater. The collective movie experience can be so much fun.

reply

I, too, enjoy the large screen experience, but I am finding in my "advanced" age (50 ;), they play the audio way too loud. But then, I take the trouble of installing ear plugs every time I go for a motorcycle ride. Trying to save what is left for my music listening.

reply

If I rode motercycles, I'd probably wear earplugs too. If you have good ones, you know, good concert-style earstoppers, they'll work at the cine' too. Why not?

Peace

reply

This movie pisses me off so I don't think I need to watch it again. I watched it on Showtime this afternoon. When it ended I went over to the computer and promptly donated 50 bucks to NORML. I hope Mary Beth Buchanan's pregnancies all end in miscarriage, as if anyone would *beep* that lemon-suck faced bitch.

reply

Good job glasshull! Im a donating member myself. Spread the word about norml too, we wont get progress made unless more people are made aware of the organization. Spread word to your friends/family and even do it online on IMDB and youtube on related message boards and videos.

Keep on donating too!
