Where's the out rage for racism??

so many white people get outraged for casting people of color for fictional characters (Annie, etc)

But this was based on a true story about an ASIAN guy and it was cast as a white male. Yet I don't see any outrage coming from people saying how it's not fair??????

reply

Yes, it's internalized racism. People get so pissed about a black Annie yet a white guy comes in and not a single word.

Really? This movie is cited more than any other it seems as an example of "whitewashing".

Its a movie, not a documentary.

Not sure what the OP is asking about. He/she seems pretty outraged.

reply

I believe the root of OP's frustration probably began long ago with Daniel LaRusso...I'd hate to carry all that anger for over 30 years- must be miserable.

Aesop wrote a fable about trying to please everyone else...

The main character should be Asian, and keep the other 2 Asians on the team. "Oh sure, they need a White guy to lead them. Racist!"
So set the film at a hotshot Japanese university, and the prof is Japanese too. "Oh sure, all Asians are math nerds. Racist!"
Well cast black actors instead for the team. "Oh sure, all blacks are attracted to gambling. Racist!"

reply

This is so true one can never please everyone it just doesnt work.

great news! since i have been complaining about this film lack of asian american actors, they finally changed! in "teen beach 2", they actually had two asian looking actors who actually are not background extras, they actually talk in the film.

Casting Asians doesn't happen because of racist spam on IMDB.
