sounds like infernal affiars/departed

i havent seen it yet but i just hired it on the fact it sounded like the departed and infernal affiars...so my question is...is it?

Sort of but not quite. Its more like "Infernal Affairs" meets "The Shield" meets "Police Story".

Well, it's not about an undercover cop, so there goes the biggest connection.

No... the only similarity is that the story has cops and gangsters in it.
