Highly Under-rated movie

Thats the most confusing part. Everything was good about the movie, including a brilliant performance by Arshad Warsi, but the movie failed. But we do have thought provoking/intelligent movies that do well. Then why do some movies fall flat on their faces even though they are comparable in almost every respect to the ones that hit the mother lode. Is it star power? or just plain and simple marketing. Either ways no use complaining that we dont churn out quality stuff, if this is the response such movies get.
