The steam room

I was in awe and hypnotized by the crane shot into the pipe, and the whole steam room sequence in general. Anyone else taken aback by it's sheer cryptic beauty?

one of the best closing scenes I have ever seen for a film (I consider the next couple of minutes with the exercising to be somewhat of an epilogue).
But anyway, yes, I can't wait to own this film so I can play that scene on repeat all day.

Well, I disliked the last 10min of the movie: why do we need to watch 6min of smoke?? People exercising? Huh? They were empty scenes for me. :(

Yeah, the smoke can show that all the events in their lives... all their experiences... get mixed and then disappeared from memory... from existence... when it is sucked by the extractor. But well... next time do it much shorter please. ;)

I want to feel the 'movie experience', and not watching scenes without any connection (if I wanted to see beautiful long shots, I'd go to modern art museums or to new tendencies video-editing festivals). ;)

Yes, it was amazing. Utterly riveting, but I have no idea why. It seemed like such a simple image, and if there is a particular symbolic reading we're supposed to make, it wasn't obvious what it was. I also found it quite sinister, menacing even.

I guess that's the beauty of it - it's a fascinating sequence, and perhaps inexplicable. In reality, we each often get captivated by seemingly trivial things (patterns in the woodwork on my desk are a real distraction when I'm bored), but to create something that is so captivating for a collective audience is a great achievement.

It reminded me of David Lynch.

A director with a deep interest in Eastern mysticism, incidentally.

I used to want to change the world. Now I just want to leave the room with a little dignity.

i felt the same way! think of Lost Highway, for example.

With it's enormous sucking power, it really encapsulated the film for me. It sucked, sucked more, and then sucked even harder. I was amazed by the sheer amount of suckage I witnessed.
