Really Interested!

Hi

I'm an Australian, a 21 year old female and I am really interested in seeing this movie.
I don't really have any interest in football but I think that it looks like a great film.

I saw the director talking on the 7:30 report on channel 2 the other day.
It was a small segment about the first movie he had made and how he had stumbled upon the opportunity. He was also the young Australian of the year after being nominated by his brother.

It looks like it will be a fun and inspirational movie to watch and i am hoping to go and see it.
Australia does come out with some really good films sometimes, even if we do have a small film industry. I love movies and film and will be really interested to see what this movie is like.

It is good too to see an Australian film with a lower rating (this is rated PG) that would be a good movie for younger people or familys to see and be interested in too. A lot of good Australian movies are often of a high rating and the industry does not seem to be catering for younger or teenage viewers as well. This looks like it may have something for everyone and I hope it goes really well at the cinemas.

It's great to see young Australian's being given a chance.

Any replies or comments would be much appreciated.
Happy Posting!

His first film - 'The Finished People' - is brilliant, if raw.

'Footy Legends' really disappoints.

At first when i read about Footy Legends i didn't want to go see it but after i saw a preview i changed my mind. it looked like a good heartfelt drama with some comedy thrown in and also i want to support the Australian film industry.

Yes this film look's awesome and as huge Rugby League fanatic I guess this film is right up my alley. Very good to see some more Australian talent rising up beyond the ranks.
The movie has been heavily promoted with actors such as Claudia Karvan and Peter Phelps but the gem is in the 'lesser' popular stars. I am a huge fan of Paul Nakad (better known as Sleek the Elite) who has shown his talent in comedy again after success with Pizza and Wog Story. Angus Sampson and Anh Do are stars of the film also.

What looks to be a quality made film with comedy, action and heart. All Australian's get out there and enjoy! :)

I saw this last night, and it really was very good. It's by far the best Australian comedy in years (although, admittedly, that's not saying much), and it's got just the right amount of sentimentality. I'd recommend it to anyone.

Though I am a Victorian and don't care so much for sport in general I thought Footy Legends was a great movie. I don't see what you are getting out of bagging Victorians and a code that was created in your own country, that is actually played in many other countries, but if it makes you feel good...enjoy.

yeah I dont believe Afl was created in Australia it was created in Victoria and sorry but victoria is Somethin else

No, it is Australia, I am sure they also have a decent grasp on grammar, unlike some.

I went to the premier of the movie last night in Canberra. It was hosted by the Australia Day council and there was a host of different people with different backgrounds. Khoa Do (The 2005 Young Australian of the year) was also present at the launch which made the experience more special.

I’m not a fan of Australian movies to be honest, but I have to admit I actually enjoyed this movie a lot. Nothing special about the plot, we have all seen it seen movies about the UNDERDOGS. What makes this movie enjoyable is the fact that there are a host of actors that will deliver that "Feel Good" and “comical” experience through out the whole movie. The older actors are an absolute classic! The young Vietnamese girl plays an awesome role. We all know Anh Do is funny, but you do get to see his serious side which is enjoyable as well. Even the referees and the sausages (you will have to watch the movie to understand) will make you feel good!

I saw the movie with 6 females, and we all laughed and enjoyed the movie immensely! Some of them don’t follow Rugby League so you don’t need to be a fan to understand it. Honestly, this movie caters for all ages, so don’t be turned off by the (PG) rating, there is plenty of funny and enjoyable moments throughout the movie.

It’s not a Hollywood movie, but if this movie had the budget it would be up there!

Well done for a great feel good movie that Australia has been missing for a long time!

I just saw the movie today in Adelaide, and it was really very good. Surprisingly I was the only one in the cinema. And this is in prime-time on opening day, at a major cinema (the one in the Vietnamese suburbs too). I guess it hasn't been promoted enough. Or maybe there was some special screening that all the other keen people went to but I didn't hear of.

Anyway, it was a great movie. A real family-friendly Australian comedy. It is the usual story we all like about the little Aussie battler who gets together with a bunch of his best mates to prove they can do anything.

If, like most Australians, you don't know a thing about rugby, and you resent the fact that people call rugby "Footy", it doesn't matter. It is only about rugby the way Bend It Like Beckam is about soccer. The real story is about a Vietnamese bloke from the working-class suburb of Yagoona getting together with his mates to win back his kid sister and his respect.

And it's funny and uplifting.

I saw this today. I really enjoyed it thou i'm not a footy fan at all but i liked this film as it was a real good heart-warmer with some good ol' Aussie comedy. I like the line Luc says "At least we've got teeth!"
After seeing this i want to know is when are Khoa and Anh going to be writing another film?

Bloody good movie, and it is not just about RL. It is about family and the value of keeping it together. A wonderful movie.

I must admit that I rented this movie last night pretty much for the same reasons for seeing FJ Holden http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0076011/ (another Australian suburb movie) I grew up in Yagoona (NSW) and wanted to see if I could recognise any locations that they used.

It was a good movie as sometimes the over polished Hollywood movies loose something in that overproduction. The characters come across as real (I went to Yagoona public school with a few lads like that). So I do recommend this movie for those don't mind a feel good movie with a happy ending.

How could anybody like this film?
I always go to see Aussie films to support the industry and I am a big rugby league fan so I was really looking forward to it.
but this movie is terrible. The script is atrocious as is most of the acting. This film is an embarrassment to cinema. I cant believe there are people who like it. It is honestly one of the worst films I have ever seen.
