Let's not forget her lack of hygiene. Seriously, how does a woman who could lose a hygiene battle to a streetwalker have 2 men fighting over her.
In almost every scene where she was close to or hugged someone, I couldn't help but wonder how badly her hair would stink.
I think the biggest mystery is how a totally incompetent and reckless Chief Inspector is able to hold a job for that long. She's a total stuffup and makes Gilou look good!
You seem to have some real issues with females.

She's an awesome cop and she could care less who likes her. She's a force and that's attractive. Not my type but I get it

Ben, Laure is my type all day long and I don't care who knows it-for me she's a REAL woman. One of my favourite ever TV comedy characters, Uncle Mort from I Didn't Know You Cared, once described his perfect woman as "like a bloke but with big knockers" and that for me is Laure Berthaud. Awesome!.

If she was a man would we be having this conversation? sorry it is a cliche but I had to say it.
Did we all see the episode where she lies while talking to a police doctor,says she has a loving relationship with her partner and they will have a child one day,wishful thinking,she has no partner.
She does seem to do a lot of sleeping with people she works with,which might be realistic for the job she does but the show shows a lot of unprofessional behaviour,abuse of suspects,illegal searches and so on.
I assume the professional standards/internal affairs department has its own section for her squad?
The show might be realistic I don't know,I am British not French.
The person who made the original post says "ONLY IN FRANCE I GUESS" well police corruption and unprofessional behaviour are sadly things that are common the world over,even in New York,New Orleans,and London
Good point made, double standards still exist. A thread like this probably wouldn't exist for a male character. Also, women tend to be in a no-win situation here. If they sleep with lots of guys, they're 'sluts' but if they're totally single with no man on the scene, they 'need a man' or 'a good *beep*'. Ridiculous! Personally, I love the character of Laure. Sure, she's flawed, but she's also hard-working, loyal, and tough but compassionate when she needs to be. She's one of the things I love about this series. I watch loads of crime dramas, but this is one of the best, in my opinion.

I agree I like her character and the show,just bought series 3 dvd and watching it now.
It is a good cop show I like the original Swedish WALLANDER as well,also UNIT 1 which is not made anymore.
I love the British LAW AND ORDER but it seems to be coming to an end,we need a tough British cop show since THE BILL and TAGGART are history.
She just thinks she has no time to invest in a relationship...and she is right, the way she operates. She is all about her job. Just takes enough time for hook-ups now and then. No big deal.
