Does anybdy know if this is a true story

Yes. It's the true story of a man using his celebrity in one industry (music) to break into another industry (film) with laughably poor results. See also: Pure Country.

It is not a factual story but the author's were inspired by an incident that happened in the first Gulf war. You can read what they have to say about the story at http://www.jeffgottesfeld.com/broken_bridges.asp and find out about its background and evolution. Cherie Bennett and Jeff Gottesfeld write fiction but it is fiction filled with truth.

Can't wait for this movie. Just the glimpses I've seen, it looks fantastic and covers a range of emotions.

Pure Country and broken Bridges were very good movies that got right down to the heart of country, and both George Strait and Toby keith did very good jobs for their first movies.
