We'll put a boot in your ass?

Did this guy alway have a flag in every picture with him or is this something new to profit off the war. I remember Toby for "should've been a cowboy". Now it seems like all he does is write songs about soldiers, which is fine. But dong this during a war just seems like an easy way to make money. Some of these song just make America look dumb. Dixie Chicks may have hurt some peoples feelings but at least they don't wirte songs that a 12 year old would write.

Toby Keith's patriotic recordings came out in 2002. Since then, he's the good-time boy he's always been, singing about love, beer, and cowboys. I too remember him for "Should've Been a Cowboy," and as much as I love that song, I never really took him too seriously. He's a musician and an artist, and as with actors and the roles they play, one should always be careful not to confuse the singer with the person in the song.

As for the movie, I'm a Toby Keith fan and I'm just curious to see how he does on the big screen. I've heard many comments about his acting on this film, and I'd like to come to my own conclusions, thank you. I'm a Beatles fan and I've seen their movies dozens of times. That doesn't mean I think they're great actors. I'm just a fan.

I also question the profit motive behind his patriotic songs, but remember that music is also a record of the cultural climate of the times, just as much as Alan Jackson's "Where Were You When the World Stopped Turning." Isn't that what literature and music is all about? Are the anti-war songs of the 1960s any less valuable if they sold millions of records?

Toby Keith is a dedicated american and is good to the troops overseas. He is a great song writer and artist. I'm a fan as well. I think if you don't like what your hearing, don't listen. As far as the dixie chicks go, I turn the radio off when they come on and I will not ever by a thing that is related to them. There anti Bush, anti Toby and the shirt that said FUTK, turned me right off to any of there doings.

But dong this during a war just seems like an easy way to make money.
Last time I checked, he doesn't make a dime unless folks actually buy his music!

First of all, Toby Keith was doing just fine before he started doing patriotic songs.

Second of all, Toby's father was killed fighting for our country, so he is proud to say that he is the son of a veteran and a member of this country and also that he is honored that our troops are still dying for us.

And I don't know why so many people are offended by the "boot in your ass" part of COurtesy of the Red White and Blue. Have you people actually heard the song? He's not bashing America; he's bashing the *beep* who bomb us and kill our people. Persnally, I think that if we ever capture any terrorists, we should get our strongest soldier, give him a pair of steele toe boots and make him shove it up the terrorists ass. That seems like an adeqeute punishmnet for those who hate us and kill us.

RIGHT ON TOBY!! DON'T LET THE BASHERS GET YOU DOWN!!

reply

Why are you sending this rant to me?

reply

It's not to you, it's to the so called patriots who don't approve of the song because in their words it's "unpatriotic".

Well, he said something about his dad dying in an interview when they were talking about 9/11 so I guess I misunderstood it. But that doesn't mean that Toby is any less proud to be an american.

People don't like the song because he says "You'll be sorry that you messed with the U.S. of A, 'cuz we'll put a boot in your ass it's the American way." SO what? So what if his comment was a little rough and grotesque. It's true. He's saying that if you mes with this country, then you'll pay, plain and simple. What, are you saying that terrorists don't deserve to be punished if they mess with us?

And the song doesn't make America look vengeful and ignorant. Some peopl might think that, but the song is just saying "Don't Mess With America or You'll Pay."

I'll tell you something that makes America look ignorant: people like the Dixie Chicks going over to another contry and saying they are ashamed of our leader. People like comedians who make fun of this country's ways of war, business, and the foundation for which we have our freedom. THAT is ignorant my friend, yet I don't hear anyone complaing about that. Now why is that?

Toby is showing his support for America through his talents, and I honor and respect him for that, and for not caring what people like you think of his patriotism. In fact, I respect him just as much as the troops who are dying for our freedom, which is what Courtesy of the Red White and Blue is about: our troops, 9/11, America, and the land of the free.

"They don't like the song because it makes Americans look vengeful and ignorant."

Actually, the song does make us sound vengeful. And we have every right to be. When hateful terrorists kill nearly 3000 mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, sons, daughters, grandmothers, grandfathers, aunts, uncles and good friends, it would be ignorant of us to just shake our fingers and say, "Shame on you".

If someone were to kill a member of my family because of hate, what I would want to do to them would be so much more horrific and vengeful than anything Toby could ever write in a song and get away with. Putting a boot in their ass would be child's play compared to what I'd do.

It's Peanut Butter Jelly Time!

If they are killing our families, friends, and loyal Americans, that doesn't make us vengeful, even though we have every right to be. WE're just fighting back. That's not venegful.

And if you think about it, the song really doesn't make us sound vengeful. It just means that we'll fight back if anyone messes with us. Vengeful would be if a country terrorized us years ago, surrendered, and then years later, someone from thsi country did something un-provoked. THAT would be vengeful; this today is protective-ness.

They have eagles in Canada too, you know.
