Disappointed in discrimination of Autism by critics.....

I just watched this movie for the second time with my wife and we were both moved to tears! Amazing movie, superb acting and great story line.

Unfortunately, when we decided to check out the reviews we were both very disappointed. Many of the reviews were negative and criticized autistic/aspergers traits portrayed by Thomas Horn (Osker Schell). We feel that this is a sad reflection of how we still have a lot of discrimination in this world and we need to work together to overcome it!

I'm disabled and watching this movie for the first time. Oskar to me comes off very obnoxious but only part of that is his aspergers. The other part was his father treating him like an adult. I was treated like an an adult and had to grow up quick and was probably obnoxious to other kids in school too, and my disability is only physical.

Sorry meant to add I don't think this movie is discriminatory at all. It's only a portrayal. Only people's reactions can be discriminatory and I don't think they are either. You can understand that someone has a disability and still think it's not an excuse for their behavior. My disability didn't stop my mom from whooping my ass when I was disrespectful like Oskar.
