Student Film USC

This is and was a student film. I actually auditioned for this one and in the middle of my audition another actor comes in and sits down. They stop my audition and ask him to leave, but perhaps someone could have been watching to door or checking actors in? Since after all Wes Craven is producing. I worked as a professional CD's assistant in NYC and we handled auditions totally differently for film and theatre.

Auditions were not running so pro for a Wes Craven film. Most likely Wes Craven was helping out the kid of a friend at USC by lending his name to the production or perhaps it is his kid directing or writing or a friend of his kids', something like that.

It kills me that times have become so hard for actors thanks to reality TV that those of us in the union with agents, yes with agents are resorting to auditioning and acting in student films. I have done a few myself and it ends up being film making in the wild, with little things like food, water and a decent to place to change clothes not being available. Yet USC, has an agreement with SAG for these students to use us, basically we agree to work for free for footage.

I just wish the USC students were taught a class on how to hold a casting session, maybe they should sit in on a real casting session for film, TV and theatre as part of a class. They should also learn more about our unions and know that when they are auditioning an actor with an agent, that actor is only 25-30% out of 100% that have representation so that means they are damn lucky to have us audition. I have had some kooky waste of time experiences either at a USC audition or on an actual film. Either they don't know how to talk to actors or ask for what they want from us or they cannot be bothered to go through the red tape of securing the location we are supposed to shoot at, so we have to shoot and hope not to be caught and thrown out. One audition the students casting had an argument in front of me in the middle of my audition and another time we were all given the same monologue men and women the second we walked into the room with no time to look it over for even one minute, there was only 1 copy so no one could have it too look over while we waited to audition. The one copy was always in someone's hands auditioning. To be fair some students are on the ball, but I think USC should offer a class in casting and directing actors.

Do you know where I could get a copy of this movie? I was in the play at my highschool and I really really want to see the movie. Thanks a ton.

I hope that the above person realizes that those on reality TV were mostly considered actors before their respective shows. There's a bizarre myth that reality TV is taking away jobs from actors, but really, it's just a lazy excuse by talent agents and managers. I should know: I worked for two of them.

Perhaps if you've had such bad experiences with student films you should stop going on auditions for them.
