Question???

A question I have regarding your own personal opinions. Lets just say there is a life after death do you personally feel that people who commit suicide should be punished there???

reply

It depends on what kind of life after death it is. If it exists, then it may be one of many tings. It may not be tied to your mortal life, so it wouldn't be a place of reward or punishment. Or it may just be a continuation of your consciousness without a body, which is what most people think of as spirit or ghost. The afterlife may be a merger of the individual into what the Buddhists call "pure undifferentiated consciousness," which one might call God.

But let's say the afterlife is the conventional idea of reward or punishment, heaven or hell. To anyone with a moral sense, suicide is the only unforgivable sin, because it is the ultimate crime, murder, that precludes repentance. It is also the ultimate contempt for life, which is, for most people, religious or not, a gift. It is also the ultimate narcissism. There is a special place in hell for suicides. Insofar as this movie romanticizes suicide, there should be a special place in hell for the producers.

I'd guess that for the suicide, whether there's an afterlife or not, the consequence should be annihilation.

Note: I'm not including those escaping intense or unremitting physical pain or people with mental illness who are driven to suicide.

Good answer although I have to disagree with some of your opinions on it I personally think suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem.
