Package Eugene Gives to Zia

Near the end of the movie Eugene gives a package to Zia and asks him to give it to his parents. What was in the package? I don't think it's ever mentioned again so I'm not sure how it fits into the plot.

I just figured it was a gift, maybe with a long letter. But I didn't get the impression it was anything more significant than that

Would have been interesting if Zia still had had the package with him at the very end.
