Rebecca vs. Alice

Am I the only one who thinks that Rebecca is far prettier than Alice? Yes, Alice is the blonde bombshell...I get it. But there's absolutely no mystery to her. I prefer unconventional beauty any day. What do you think?

Alice 100%

Lucy 110%

Rebecca by a long shot.

i definitely 100% agree. rebecca is a hundred times more beautiful than alice. i mean i'm not a guy or anything but i can definitely see that alice is gorgeous but there's nothing more to her as far as i can see.

whereas rebecca is witty, intelligent, cultured and much more. the thing i liked best about rebecca is that she's not afraid to voice her opinion on any matter, be it controversial or not. she doesn't give a *beep* what other people think. i wish more people were like that. anyone agree?

Póg mo thón!

reply

Me too. Rebecca it is. Have to say the lads I watched it with disagreed.

It was quite stereotypical though, wasn't it. The pretty blonde princess versus the thoughtful brunette!

reply

ya its very stereotypical. i cant remember the last time i saw a film where the blonde was more beautiful in every way than the brunette.

as for the lads, well of course they're gonna think alice is more beautiful. i mean she's kinda the blonde bombshell that most lads dream about isn't she? however, i'd like to think that if in reality a lad had to choose between the shallow blonde bombshell and the gorgeous brunette with brains that they'd choose the brunette.

Póg mo thón!

Rebecca is by far the more attractive of the two. Plus, she is inteligent and caring compared to Alice who is really shallow and not that clever. So, Rebecca 100%

reply

emo85: Regarding your blond-versus-brunette discussion, let's not lose sight of the fact that Alice is not a blond bombshell, but rather a brunette bombshell with fake blond hair. So the Rebecca-versus-Alice comparison is really a brunette-versus-brunette comparison.

And just to give credit where credit is due, let's note that while fake-blond Alice Eve's fake-blond character Alice Harbinson in Starter for 10 may be a bit shallow, the real-life Ms. Eve is in fact a graduate of Oxford, whereas actress Rebecca Hall started at Cambridge but dropped out.

I'll also mention, for what it's worth, that I come from a family that includes nine genuine-blond members who hold one or more degrees from Harvard College, Harvard Medical School, Harvard Law School, Yale College, and/or Yale Medical School, and who mostly have comparably distinguished professional accomplishments. So I bristle a bit at the "dumb blond" stereotype, particularly when that stereotype so often seems to have been established by brunettes engaging in a bit of hair-color masquerade.

reply

Seems like i disagree with the majority here but its Alice for me!
She's just made to seem bad when really she did nothing wrong.
She's simply stunning and i can't wait to see more in the future.

reply

Am I the only one who thinks Alice in the film . . .is ugly?!?!? I mean take away the coiffed blonde hair and the face you have . . .uuugh. Not to be a snob or rude or anything, but I mean, its so fake. uuugh@

reply

Nosilla, I agree with you completely. I'm a girl, and it's normal for girls to rank our kind's attractiveness, and Alice just didn't impress me. I know this is very superficial, but I found her teeth rather massive. Rebecca, on the other hand, was hands-down attractive. Her clothing style probably helped a tad, too.

reply

how depressing. women rating other women... its bad enough that men do it, why do we do it to ourselves. its bitchy, cynical and plays into the hands of men. alice is stunning, if you think she is ugly you are clearly kidding yourself! both women in this film are probably at least four times more beautiful that any person posting on this board. it's the movies for god's sake - who are you all trying to kid?

God, sometimes I wish I was a man, I wouldn't have to put up with the ridiculous catty remarks from women about other women's beauty or lack of...

Regarding nobodysperfect's comment about "[t]he pretty blonde princess versus the thoughtful brunette": Let's note for the record that Alice Eve is not a pretty blond princess: rather, she's a pretty fake-blond princess.

reply

Rebecca, no contest. She made me laugh.

reply

It's clearly Rebecca. Sure Alice is more your conventional beauty, which is all well and good, but, it just might be me here, but I found her dull rather uninteresting and really ditsy. Apart from the smoking weed and sex she’s not got much else. While Rebecca’s more of a free spirit, unconventional and interesting.

Eli Lapp: You never had your hands on a teat before.
John Book: Not one this big.

I thought Rebecca was much more attractive right from the start, both physically and personality wise. I think it was just that the actress that played her had a bit of an effect on me

reply

actually none of the two... alice is a slut while rebecca is a rebellious girl and the two are just high maintenance... If they don't get AIDS they'd be ARRESTED...

It's not really a fair decision, though, is it? I mean, when you have to choose a favorite between two characters and one of them is played by Rebecca Hall, the conclusion is pretty much foregone.

reply

Definately Rebecca, Alice is too blonde.

I didn't kill you, take that as a compliment
THERE'S SOMETHING MOVING IN THE DARK

Personally, I'd go for Lucy, the Asian girl. They dorked her up for the film (talk about stereotyping) but check out Elaine Tan's bio pics -- she is far hotter than either Alice or Rebecca.

As for Alice being a "dumb blonde," as so many of you seem to assume, don't forget that she was smart enough to make the UC team (and don't bring up the cheating -- he only gave her two answers.)

Yeah, percentage players die broke, too, don't they, Bert?

Rebecca hands down. I seem to find that brunettes are more attractive than blonds, although there are a few attractive blonds out there. Alice not being one of them.

"As for Alice being a 'dumb blonde', as so many of you seem to assume, don't forget that she was smart enough to make the UC team (and don't bring up the cheating -- he only gave her two answers.)"

True, but if she was ready to cheat by asking Brian for two correct answers, what says that she didn't cheat on some of the other questions as well?

It seemed rather strange to me, that a girl like her participated in the audition. She didn't really seem to have great ambitions in the contest, did she? I barely ever saw her answering any questions, and considering the way she dressed for the contest, I got the impression that she participated mainly because she wanted to be on television. But I could be wrong.

Possible that she dressed like that because she wanted Brian back though...

I love hitmen. No matter what you do to them, you never feel bad.

reply

The_Eleventh_Doctor: I have to correct your statement that "Alice is too blonde". In fact, she's not blond at all; the problem is that she's too fake-blond. Her eyebrows show the real brunette color of her hair.

reply

Rebecca for sure.

"But I have infinite tenderness for you. I always will. My whole life."

beside the face that alice looks like a horse, rebecca is completely stunning!

Don't actually like any of them but it's a good thing they chose ordinary-looking gals for the parts of Alice and Rebecca! I think Lucy is the cutest one in the film.
