Squirrel Running Across Tracks - Unstoppable (2010) Discussion

Not a squirrel, a groundhog. But yeah, I noticed it too. I wonder if he/she was a trained "movie" groundhog (intentionally released off-camera by the crew) or a real, wild one that just scurried across the tracks by accident during the shot. Whichever, he should have been credited at the end--"John Q. Woodchuck" or "Scranton Sam" or something. Definitely a star in the making.

It must have been a stunt groundhog. I can't imagine them making the effort to release it from the side on purpose. I'm sure he just happened to be there at the right time!

Squirrels arnt that big. Otherwise! This'd be a horror flick. It has been discussed as to what it was. That was an accident. With PETA hanging around, there is no way possible that they through it out there intentionaly.

Anyone notice the squirrel (edited - ground hog) run across the tracks in front of the train just before it hits the horse trailer? I thought it was a bit funny.

It wasn't a squirrel or a groundhog.

It was a racoon.

I thought it was a raccoon too when I saw it... I haven' seen a groundhog running around in real life though, so I guess I don't know. It would have been the Godzilla of squirrels though if it were one.

LOl......well this movie was shot partly in the town I am from Yorkville, OH and also the town just a few minutes up the highway Mingo Junction ,OH and I can tell you without a doubt that it was indeed a groundhog....they are quite abundant in this part of the state. I noticed it while watching the movie as well...I thought man, what are the chances!!

I believe it was Puxatony Phil vacationing in Ohio at the time. It is rumored that he was approached by the production crew at the last minute and he accepted their offer to do this stunt. I think he should get an Oscar nomination for 'Outstanding performance in his field'; or, in this case 'Outstanding performance while crossing the tracks'.

Just watched the movie for the 1st time yesterday. I realize this is an old post but cool to know the actual towns. I didn't see the ground hog but will look for him next time. Thanks.

definitely not a squirrel..wrong coloring to be a racoon...i thought it was a beaver or otter or something. I'm sure that's wrong, too

The groundhog/horse trailer scene was shot in Turtlepoint PA.

i've screencapped it not a lot of point posting the screencap cos u can hardly see anything. i can assure you it's not a groundhog or a squirrel though

I watched the movie on blu-ray in HD and rewound it when I saw that. Definitely a raccoon. I thought it was cool too.
