Extremely Boring and Uneventful

This movie is simply a time waster and an extremely ineffective one at that. The main character is extremely unlikeable. From the beginning of the film, he is described as an awkward child with a stuttering disorder. However, it's extremely severe and the momentous amount of stuttering is what is first off putting. Secondly, there is basically no plot. Nothing moves the movie along. There is no climax. No denoument. Nothing that creates an actually story. Just parts of could be stories. Please don't waste your time watching this.

I agree... like TOTALLY. This movie is boring as hell. Somebody told me it was better than "Juno" and I believed her and went and downloaded this piece of crap just to be extremely disappointed by its dullness. Had I known it was that bad, I would have sit in front of my window and counted how many cars crossed the street in one minute and tried to guess if the next minute there would be more or less cars. It would have been a btter use of my time. DO NOT WATCH THIS FILM unless you suffer from insomnia and desperately need something that quickly puts you to sleep.

I disagree.

This movie does not have a "story" in a the classical Hollywood good-vs-evil kind of way. It is a "slice of life". Everything is very realistic. Things happen just as they would in real life - peaks of strangeness in day to day life.

I love this film.

I am with the OP. Though, it's not that the movie is bad, it's just that it goes absolutely no-where. Now, that might have been the writer/directors whole point, but it's one he could have kept to himself.

A waste of time.

Too bad you guys didn't like it. I personally believe this movie was beautiful, very close to life. Yes it wasn't high paced, it didn't have the climax where the boy stumps them all with his fluent speech/debate. But hey, that not exactly happens in life.

The story was simple and explorers human psych in a good way. The boy was almost no one, self-conscious, had inferiority complex, but he wanted to be someone. And through out the move he gained confidence to be that someone. At the end, he had enough confidence to stand up at tell the girl that she was basically a bi*ch. Enough confidence to have an ambition.

I agree. This film just wasn't successful in what it was trying to do. It was far too try-hard. I recommend 'Thumbsucker' - it deals with the same themes FAR more effectively.
Plus, I absolutely loved the directors first film 'Spellbound', so I was very disappointed with this.

Well, for me, I enjoyed the movie much more AFTER I finished. The first time I watched it it left me with a warm and satisfied feeling, which I was confused about. Then I started thinking about the plot and the development of the plot and the characters and I rewatched some scenes and now its one of my favourite movies.

The acting was great, you gotta admit.

i agree, the main character was extremely unlikeable that jenny was trying to keep her mouth closed while kissing him, showing extreme disgust which i think is genuine, not part of the plot. the stuttering was so bad that in the middle of the movie i started to say, die! i didn't like the kings speech movie, i still don't, and i don't like colin firth but because of this movie, i started to appreciate their mercy with the audience. this movie remind me with the last of the mohicans, great sound track, that's all.

I agree. The only problem with the guy is that he's retarded. I think I lost a few brain cells watching this.
