Du bliver hurtigt flydende

Seriously, that line cracks me up, lol. Its just after Paige says she wants so badly to become fluent in the Danish language, and Eddie says she is going to be fluent very soon.

Now, for an american who had to learn some danish sentence, it was actually pretty good. But for a Danish king, it is just plain horrible, haha. Everytime I hear that line I just think "How can she become fluent, when not even you - the King of Denmark - are?"

lol :b

Don't take everything so seriously ...

I just saw the movie. Do americans think we speak amercian in Denmark?

You mean do we Americans think you speak English in Denmark? Nope, we definitely do not...At least I hope most of us don't at least

Well - the language researchers have done a bad job on this one!

What Eddie says in 'Danish' means "You'll get FLUID quickly."

You can't just translate this sentence word by word.

In Danish - to get the true meaning - he would have had to say: "Du kommer hurtigt til at tale dansk flydende." = You'll be speaking Danish fluently in no time."

Oh come on. You CAN say "Du bliver hurtigt flydende". It actually shows that for once (!) the researches on these movies has done their researh, because even though "Du kommer hurtigt til at tale dansk flydende" is maybe more correct, but nobody (well, besides the royal family... you might have a point there) would actually say it like that. I also think "flydende dansk" would be more correct than "dansk flydende", but we can have that conversation another time (din formulering er ikke ukorrekt, jeg vil bare mene, at den normale talemåde er "flydende dansk", og det her ER jo talesprog)

My point was that you CAN say "flydende", it's like saying "you'll be fluent in no time".

Incorrect, buddy. Or, well, a guy like you might say it. But a member of the Royal house, never would. It is an incorrect use of grammar.
