Luke was forced to do the sequel because of CONTRACT

Apparently Luke was forced to do 'The Prince and Me 2' because he was under contract!!!! He turned it down several times. They made him do it.

reply

Well that would explain it. Poor Luke!

reply

So what I'm reading is that because he had signed a contract, he was expected to HONOR it. But he didn't want to do it, so rather than acting like a MATURE PROFESSIONAL, he gave a lacklustor, half-hearted, mediocre performance. That's the way to stick it to the studio who SIGNS HIS PAYCHECK.

Any actor or actress who withholds their best performance on such grounds has betrayed their fans and doesn't deserve the plum roles. Can you imagine Johnny Depp not bringing it to the performance? Think of the really BIG actors who command the big bucks, and they all bring their A game even if they get lousy scripts.

reply

Johnny Depp put rubber bands on his tongue to get out of his 21 Jump Street contract.

reply

Exactly!!!!

Luke Mably completely lacks talent and respect for his fans (does he really have any?)

He ruins this movie.

It is not an intelectual, deep film, but might have been just an amusing adventure had he at least tried to act.

Kam Heskin does a great job. She adds energy, sweetness and humour to the part - but she can't do it all by herself.

Christopher Firth is also great as Søren.

reply

I feel really sorry for him that he had to do this movie.

reply

That would explain why his acting was so atrocious.

Goodness is weakness, pleasantness is poisonous, serenity is mediocrity, and kindess is for losers

reply

Poor Luke,
If you all remember during the entier movie eddie and page barly touch and or kiss each other except in the begining and near the end of the movie and even the look in Lukes eyes, he really was not into the whole idea of the movie, but he still looked really good in the movie.

Wasn't Julia signed on to do the movie and then she backed out or something? I know the movie would have been a lot better with her in it. Maybe not everyone else the same, but at least Luke and Julia. I haven't seen it yet and if I do, I'm defintely just going to rent it and not buy it, but it sounds like it was pretty disappointing. Too bad. Luke was so good in the first one.

What's the big deal with Brokeback Mountain?
Give Reese her Oscar already!

reply

you're right. they barely touched at all. after watching it I was like, "what happened to their passionate moments?" remember in the first movie that scene in the library? there was no chemistry or passion in this one. I really feel bad for Luke. he really didn't need this.

reply

Luke definitely looks like he was held at gunpoint to do this movie. He looks so darn sullen throughout the whole movie. And Kam Heskin doesn't do the character of Paige any justice. She's a wimp. Julia at least gave Paige some fight and a backbone. This was not a good sequel.

reply

I so agree with you.

Well, its the same thing that happend with that princess movie that anne hathaway did. She made it pretty clear that she did not want to make the sequal, but that she was under contract and had to do it. Sadly it happens when actors sign these contracts, in order to work...

reply

They should totally redo this movie with the right actors/actresses if they ever do it again. This one just plain sucked, even the trailer told me that just by the actress playng Paige.

reply

ummm, maybe it's because how we all like to see the original characters, that's y they force the actors to sign the contract so they will do the sequal :/

reply

I'm glad to know someone else picked up on that! He did look very distant and unenthusiatic during the entire film... A major lack of commitment and no chemistry what-so-ever. It's also difficult not to notice that he's missing from a lot of scenes. I cringed at every scene with Kam because the portrayal of Paige was sad... Someone didn't do their homework. Tsk, tsk, tsk...

reply

I havnt even SEEN the movie yet, I dont know if I will, might rent it just to see and hear Lukes voice.

I have to agree with your comments. I saw this movie on DVD a couple of weeks ago and was kind of disappointed that it didn't turn out as well as I had hoped (even a little bit). I loved the original movie with Julia Stiles and Luke Mably--they had great chemistry together and the story was simple and sweet. OK, I must confess--I just wanted to see Luke one more time...still, the storyline and the actress who played Paige was a major disappointment, as well as the other characters in the film. "Paige" was portrayed as kind of wimpy and well...bland. Not quite the way that Julia portrayed her--strong, independent, smart, yet vulnerable. Oh well, at least Luke tried to make the best of it despite the circumstances. Good luck to him.

congratulations on watching the movie even if you thought it sucked. personally i think, a good actor/actress can always carry a very bad story and make it a lot better. it's just like saying, dancers are not born, they are made. i think Luke made it in this movie, regardless whether he is born an actor or he is made one. yes, he looked tired, but wouldn't he be if his character is stressed and anxious about the dilemma he is facing? anyway, i'm not an expert on movies, so i won't dissect it as to its cinematic value. i got the two movies for my three daughters, for our discussions on relationships. better than making them watch the antiquated cinderella stories that would not give them examples of how a good love story should develop --- in reel or real life.

You can't just take into consideration how the actors & actresses did acting; you have to take into consideration the type of directing they were under. From my P.O.V. the directorship that they were under wasn't exactly the best.

The director of a movie or t.v. show can make or break a movie. And in this case I say it broke it.

reply

its pretty stupid to make him act in it if he tryed to turn it down.. it just means that he will not do the best job cause he doesnt care to much about it.
