the accident

Why was she talking to him like they were having a normal conversation, about getting back toghether seriously she and him wasted like 4 minutes not talking about the accident, and instead of making him do a crazy U turn why at that point did she not just say IF you love me please get out of the car right now and get off the road or something.

Why do trucks always sound their horn before piling into victim in movies? If you have time to honk you have time to stop.

reply

No not always - same with some larger boats - look at the Titanic trying to avoid the iceberg or some of the large supertankers. They can slow down and put their geers into reverse etc then they just have to wait for the thing to turn, stop or whatever. The lorry was probably going too fast and had jackknifed and skidding/slipping all over the road and by that time was completely out of control. The horn would be to try to warn the driver and get him out of the way but he would still have been struggling to stop the truck so not that cut and dry unfortunately.

reply

Pure theory on your part, in practice the horn is seldom used in an accident. Why?
Simple there is no time. In the vast majority of accidents no horns are sounded. In this badly staged accident we see the truck coming over the brow, the horn sounds before the truck starts to jacknife.
Do you think in an actual situation while the driver is struggling for control with both hands on the wheel he can physically press the horn? That didn't even happen in this film. The horn was for dramatic effect and your analogy of the Titanic is ridiculous.

From what I remember the truck not seem to be going that fast compared to some other films

I thought so too plus vehicle like that usually have hydralic brakes which we have on the vehicles at my work. The drivers say that they feel like they take a second longer to kick in but once they do they will stop you faster than some other types of brakes. Im no expert - just putting another point of view up for discussion/slating.
