Elizabeth Smart

Did anyone see the episode that had Elizabeth Smart on it last night? Nancy was asking her to share her story with other victims and Elizabeth didnt want to. I am so happy that her family found her and have their little girl back in their arms again but what I am wondering, if she is keeping her ordeal private and not expressing herself to her family and loved ones. If so she needs to reveal her problems and talk to someone who can help her if she holds all that trauma in she will never be able to experience a normal life. Does anyone know?

I like Nancy Grace, I think that there are men on the air that do the same thing she does (being very opinionated and stubborn) but they dont get the flack that she does. She is a smart and bright woman who deserves more credit than she gets. I watch Nancy Grace every night and have seen her choke up and even brough to tears by some stories. I wish more anchors and newscasters were like that. I dont think by any means she is an expert on what Elizabeth Smart went through-- I just hope that little girl gets the help she needs and deserves!!!

all these types of shows are just wrong. why do we have a legal system when talk show hosts think they can serve as judge and jury?

grace is a former prosecutor. why did she choose to go into tv rather than continue in the court system? money? fame?

i just don't get it. i for one will not watch these shows. i skip over the entire cnn/msnbc/courtTV channels all the time. just not for me.

This show is sickening. Some people refuse to acknowledge that CNN and FOX News are almost identical but this show proves it. Both channels have this kind of obnoxious, right-wing, sensational talk show crap in their programming. It's awful. I'm happy my cable company is dumping CNN Headline news and replacing it with BBC World.

Well, just don't watch then. I am a big fan of Nancy Grace and hope this board is for her fans and not her detractors.

And we don't.

reply

No. This board is for anyone to talk about the this topic. It doesn't say anywhere in imdb policy that I can't criticize a show on its own board.

By your own theory, just don't read the posts of her 'detractors'.

doh!

reply

Oh, gee, maybe she doesn't want to, I don't know... discuss it on national frickin' television. Are you really this dense?

reply

Yeah you're probably right there!

Anyway speaking of Elizabeth, did you know that the university where now missing coed Camille Cleverly attended, BYU, is also where Elizabeth goes?

I bet she feels rather strange probably seeing those missing posters looking for Camille, around campus, especially since she knows what it's like to be kidnapped and live the life of Hagar from Genesis 16. (Being the concubine pseudo-wife to bear the child, since the first wife was too old.) Why Elizabeth's kidnappers even dressed themselves & her as if they were Abraham, Sarah, and Hagar...in 21st century Utah & California!?!

Anyway I don't know what happened to Camille? Did she just meet with an accident at Bridal Veil falls, near where her bike was found? Was she kidnapped, and like Elizabeth, made to be some other guy's Hagar? (Talk about Biblical!) Was she kidnapped by Warren Jeffs' cronies from Colorado City, made to become someone's 3rd or 4th wife, and dress like it's a very conservative 1985?

Ah who knows? Anyone could imagine anything these days!

The Elizabeth Smart interview is the first and last episode I ever saw of Nancy Grace. Grace was rude and disresepctful. I think that Smart handled her better than most adults would have. BTW, I'm not saying this because Grace is a woman. I would say the same thing about any adult who kept pushing a teenager to discuss something that she clearly was unwilling to discuss. And I doubt that was unclear before they went on the air.

Totally agree with you. Elizabeth Smart was on there to talk specifically about a bill that would toughening sex predator laws. She wasn't there to answer idiotic questions about how a adult would react if they heard a rescuer, or if she knew how national the search was for her, or what it was like wearing a burkaa. Nancy Grace was talking down to her as if she were a child or cowering victim, obviously Elizabeth is not either of those things.

Seems like the media has really lowered their hiring standards, it's sad to see a bottom feeder like Nancy Grace on tv. She failed at her criminal law career so it was only natural she got her slimey face onto a talk show.

There is something very suspicious in the fact Elizabeth now claims she was raped every day of her kidnapping seven years later. Why did she wait so long to come out with this?

Also, Nancy Grace and the corporate "news" media are way more concerned about missing white girls, especially the wealthy ones, than other missing kids and that bothers me. Not to mention how sensationalized these stories often are (i.e. balloon boy).

Yes, it is fortunate that she is still alive, but apparently there is more to this story than we are led to believe.
