I think it was the story/plot that ruined the show...

Long post ahead, so be prepared to read a lot .

I was watching this show again the other day, just to check it out. In all honesty, I wanted to love this show because I love Looney Tunes and I like Anime (don't get me wrong though, there are many American-made cartoons I love, like Avatar or Justice League). As we all know though, everyone hated the show after watching it for such a short time.

I think that people could have lived with the fact that Looney Tunes becoming anime, and I think that people could have lived with the extreme setting and designs of the show... but the story was just done so poorly that I blame it for this show's downfall.

First off, lets look at the plot for the first episode. Basically, they just threw us in the show from the get-go, not really explaining anything about Acmetropolis, the Loonatics, anything. Acmetropolis (in the first few mimutes) is being destroyed by this large Iceberg. We then cut to the Loonatics doing... stuff, when some mysterious person tells them to go stop the threat, and there off. I guess the creators thought any details or info about the Loonatics or their boss would just bore us, so off to the battle! They let the opening tell us their powers instead, so we'll just have to guess if they have anything else... and by the way, how does a large meteor give people super powers? Anyway, we find out that the Iceberg contained Vikings... Like most fantastic shows, they don't bother to tell us where they came from. As for the Iceberg, why were they in it? Was it their ship? Were they trapped in it? The show hints that it could be any of the above. Again, they don't seem to want to tell us since explaining the plot would just bore us. Then Ace does that whole "No you don't, yes I do, no you don't, yes I do, yes you do, no I don't" Bugs Bunny line, and it just felt so out of place and it made me cringe. So after Ace battles the Viking with a toothpick of a sword (against his large sword that could cut buildings in half), we get some plot where the Vikings want to freeze this reactor, which will apparently effect the WHOLE WORLD (apparently Acmetropolis IS the whole world, because many villains think taking over Acmetropolis=ruling the world), there plans are foiled, and all that fun stuff, bla bla bla.

There were plenty of ways they could have done that intro episode so much better. They should have focused more on the beginnings of the group, showcasing their lives before the Meteor struck, how they finally came to use their powers, how Sadalvia (pardon the spelling) found them and formed their group, how their friendship for each other grew, etc. Instead, we just toss them together like they've been doing this stuff all their lives, no explanation of how their group formed, etc.

Now, to be fair, there was an episode in which they talked about their back stories, but they were only about a minute long and barely explained anything. Let me explain their back stories for everyone in case you forgot (or never wanted to know).

Ace~
Liked karate, but he was working for a movie producing studio (?) and he was treated badly as the stunt double (for a guy who is a couple feet larger then him).
Point: He was miserable before the meteor struck.

Lexi~
Wanted to be a cheerleader, but some bimbo didn't like her so she wouldn't let her join the team.
Point: She was miserable before the meteor struck.

Duck~
Had to clean the freakish-looking pool (which looked like a glorified fountain more than a pool), but would rather be the life guard.
Point: He was miserable before the meteor struck.

Tech~
He was a college genius, but his teacher was too impatient and pushed the "Self Destruct button (he installed it for extra credit), blowing up the classroom. The teacher called him mad, making Tech feel under appreciated.
Point: He was miserable before the meteor struck.

Slam~
He was a wrestler who was suppose to "take a hit" and fall for the other guy and let him win (but he decided to make it real at the last minute, which was the part we saw of course).
Point: He was miserable before the meteor struck.

Rev~
He was a a delivery boy of some restaurant who could never usually make it on time.
Point: He was miserable before the meteor struck.

That's basically it. It wasn't explored any more than that... just "I was miserable" and that's all. Couldn't they have explored them a bit more than that? They could have made the show a two-parter, and explored their pasts a bit more... but I guess explaining back stories would also take away from the EXTREME ACTION, so they decided to make them as short as possible.

Other than that, the plots usually revolved around villains who were angry at the world/Acmetropolis/someone/etc, someone who wanted goes on heists to steal valuable crap, etc. Oh, and get this; there is this Jade Dragon thingy that has SO MUCH POWER, so what do we do with it? Put it on display of some museum that is barely guarded by anyone, that way anyone can just up and take it.

There are so many other things that I could go into, but this post is long enough already.

But I will say that I do consider the show somewhat of a guilty pleasure. It is bad, but I still enjoy watching it every now and then (it is easy to bash ). To be hoenst, I do like the main six, and I think their designs are alright... everyone else seems really weird (Foghorn Leghorn and Pepe Le'Pew's future descendants are... human?). The stories are usually ridiculous, but at least season two took a step up and made it slightly better (my favorite of the whole season is the episode involving Rev and his folks family business). In season two, we were introduced to more redesigned Looney Tunes characters (Sylvester, Yosemite Sam, even Porky made an interesting but somewhat far-fetched episode) and had some better plot. Unfortunately, just about everything about season one is what destroyed this show in my opinion.

If only they had made the show both fun and silly, while dark and epic at the same time. They should have described the show as "taking inspiration" from the Looney Tunes characters, not as their future descendants. Trying to say this strange, futuristic world is the actual future of Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, etc is way too far-fetched and nobody could take it seriously (and nobody did). It's so unfortunate too, because the show had many opportunities, and if it had been done right, it could have been something memorable...

"As we all know though, everyone hated the show after watching it for such a short time."

To be fair, I didn't know about it when it aired.
My friend introduced me to it the other day and I really like it.

If I seemed a bit harsh to those who liked the show, sorry about that. Like I said in my post (I think I said it in there... it's a freaking wall of text, so I forget ), I consider the show a guilty pleasure myself, so I guess I sort of like it too. I'm just going by a lot of the opinions that I've seen after the show aired.
