Why is she so gung ho about gay rights?

Before I start I just want to say that I am for gay rights... because my best friend from college is gay. I am just wondering why Kathy is (pressuring) people to sign that equal rights law in California.

Did she know someone who was gay?
Is the sole person responsible for her being so gung ho Matthew Shepherd?

You're laborers, you're supposed to be laboring! That's what you get for not having an education!!

Well she has a lot of gay followers and that's fine, but I think it's interesting that these gay friends aren't really mentioned or introduced until she's fighting for a cause.

Is it not possible for her to be passionate about a cause unless she has personal stake in it? Who cares? She feels strongly about the issue and I support her efforts, that's all that matters to me.

She's had her gay friends on many times, including the last episode at her mother's apartment complex. She also stayed in her gay friends' house during her remodel.

You all must be very young because fighting for equal rights by everyone is the backbone of our country. You don't have to be a women to fight for equal rights nor black, or gay to stand up for all human rights! It's being an American!

Of course it is possible to fight for an "outside" cause. I was just wondering what made her start fighting, so to speak... as I said before, I am FOR gay rights. and I don't care either... but some people do care. (which is why she and others care about the gay's rights)

I feel strongly about learning disabled rights, because I am learning disabled. I feel strongly about eating disorder understanding because my sister has (get this) both Anorexia and Bulimia. And I feel very strongly about the importance of early intervention with schoolchildren because I am a teacher and if I see one more bipolar student wrongfully diagnosed as having ADHD I will scream!

I have personal experiences with these things and that's why I am FOR them.

And I have to be honest, I occasionally see her gay friends... I see Tori Spelling's Gunckles way more often than the Dlist gay friends are shown.

Judging by your post you must be young, too... what makes you think that anyone on this thread is from America? (I, the OP am, but it is the World WIDE web we are on, here...) Nowhere did I say that she was gay for fighting for gay rights. Usually, when it comes to celebrities, most of them who fight for people rights, have something in common with the ones persecuted/misunderstood... for example...

Tracy gold and Dana Plato were for Eating Disorders being studied and understood because they both had eating disorders.

JOe Torre (former NY Yankee manager) started the Safe at Home Foundation because he witnessed domestic violence as a child.

Rosie O'Donnel is a LGBT activist because she is a lesbian. She is also for depression management because she came out as being depressed after she adopted her third child (the #1 symptom of depression... maybe another kid will help fill the void.) I am not against any of these things...

So many people are FOR ADD/ADHD understanding that it isn't even funny!

Louis Braille invented the Braille system of communication when he accidentally blinded himself. I guess that counts as being FOR the improvement for the visually impaired...

Chris Burke (Corky on Life Goes On) is the ambassador for the National Down Syndrome Society, because he has Down Syndrome and he was the first person with Downs to star in a weekly tv series.

You get the idea...

She's also heavily into the anti-bullying cause and there's certainly nothing wrong with that BUT I just heard her make fun of Bristol Palin for being Fat. She is over on a tour for the troops and she's standing up there making light of brisol Palin's weight. The troops booed Loudly and she suddenly changed the subject. Does the anti-bullying stance only take in gays? It's still alright to laugh at someone who has buck teeth or who is overweight? That makes no sense at all. This woman is interested in one thing. Herself. It's not difficult to see this woman's desperation for attention. It's sad

She made fun of Bristol Palin because she somehow managed to gain weight during a dance contest. Moreover, Bristol Palin is a public figure and thus a legitimate target for humor.

There is an enormous difference between a stand-up comic making jokes about a famous person (of ANY age) and people persecuting someone to the point where they commit suicide.

I can tell you for a truth that all this knocking the Palin family has taken over the past couple of years is NOT doing the left any good whatsoever. As usual the ultra lib Hollywood left is sticking its foot right into its great big mouth. If Sarah Palin runs for president most of the folks between the coasts are going to remember the pummelling she and her family have had to endure and they are going to vote her in there if for no other reason than to get back at the liberal crappers. They should have just shut up when Obama won. They should have never uttered her name nor called her stupid or attacked her children. They shouldn't have... but they did. No control.. N control.. that's why they always lose.

reply

Actually, recent polls have shown over half of the US population strongly dislikes Sarah Palin.

And stunts like this are the reason why.

Consider: There have been a rash of suicides across the country by kids who were or were perceived to be Gay and targeted for incessant harassment, with adult authority figures not only failing to stop it but sometimes actively promoting it or even joining in.

The response of Bristol and her fans? "So what? Someone said I looked fat on DANCING WITH THE STARS! That's just as bad!"

reply

She identified herself as a "gay man." And also her personality is basically like a gay man. In her show, she seemed more comfortable and more alive with her gay fans than her normal straight fans.

She also dated a really cute boy in high school who turns out to be really really gay.
