I found the jokes slightly funny, the acting even more so. I don't understand why people cryed at this film, its just not believable enough to work that way.
I don't believe an Oscar is possible at all for this film.
Insaat is a much better Turkish film, I havent seen Anlat Istanbul yet but I'm hopeful that is high quality.

sharethere are some key scenes in the movie to make people cry (for example, father says his son's illness to family in canteen, child holds his grandpa's hand after scaring from horse)
the movie makers are so cruel about this, they did this by purpose ;)

i am happy to cry, it is not same for previous turkish movies like ferdi tayfur, kücük emrah etc. it has a good story..
if someone says that "i didnt cry on this movie", i have some quesitons:
where did u watch on movie?
was there any annoying voice from outside
did u sit during the movie
were you tired? sleepy?
or the last question = is your heart maden stone :P
It is a good drama, may be not just for you.
