shareIt is easy to learn. Go vote a Turkish movie for instance which has 5-10 votes counted. Next day check it if total votes given rise up 1 or not. That s easy :)

shareKisacasi iki tane filme hayran olup gelip onlara 10 verenlerin oylari sayilmiyor. Belli bir sure boyunca IMDB'ye gelip farkli kategoride (hep gidip komedi filmine oy verirsen o da sayilmiyor) cok sayida filme not verenlerin sayiliyor.
Ben yaklasik bes alti senedir Imdb kullanip oy veriyorum. Yaklasik 300 filme oy verdim. Her oy verdigimde, your voted is counted diye not cikiyor.
The strangest thing is that it was on the top 250 about a year ago (around #110 if I remember correctly) but it dissapeared almost as quick as it appeared; it was on the list for max a few days.

It needs more votes from regular voters, that's all.
It probably was up there long ago because of the high votes from regular voters, once the movie received more and more votes from them, it went down. It doesn't matter the rating you see here, the one that matters is pretty much always lower, except the cases of really known/famous movies.
This is exactly what happened. I remember it vividly that the movie had a weighted average vote of 9.1. That it made it to Top 250 means it had received sufficient votes from the regular voters. The reason why in the world it isn't on the list anymore has nothing to do with the votes whatsoever. Even though I'm not a fan of the movie, it richly deserves to be on Top 250 judging by the votes.

It's definitely a surprising thing to see.
IMDb Pro has the 251-500 spots; this film is not among them at this point.
wheather it is in the top 250... or not...
today I watched this movie with a welsh friend of mine... and he cried as well as I do... who cares about the voting system of IMDB...
I watched this movie about 4 times till now and now I own the dvd...
it is definitely a masterpiece...
well thats pretty sure! Babam ve Oglum is way better than Slumdogs Millionaire or whatever...

If everyone who voted for this movie also votes for oh, let's say, 200 others that they've seen, then they'll all have regular voter status and their votes will be factored into the Top 250. But that begs the question, have the people who voted this up so high actually see 200 movies they could comment on?
shareThis is simply because there too few from America that has senn this film. To get on top 250, there has to be a certain percentage of votes from more than one continent. All votes count, but to get on top 250, there has to be weighted from more than Europe.
If the film gets on Netflix and some places like that, it can go abovce and suddenly get on the list.
Sooner or later there will be many enough votes.

after some indian films entered the top250 they just changed the rules,
so they disappeared again.
and they have done this not just once.
at the end films from india got their own list.
this film is maybe a forerunner of the same evolution.
maybe more and more turkish people have found imdb recently
and other films will follow.
i am watching this, but i am quite sure this one will also disappear before the end of the year.
the reason is on one site understandable:
this movie is obviously a local phenomenon.
i am from austria and we also have some movies with a rating above 8.0, but you will never find them in the top250 (except those of Haneke and other in other countries well known directors). they are great, but i am not sure if people not coming from austria have the feeling to get into them just as people from here are. But if Austria would be a bigger country, with much more citizen - likey turkey f.ex. - they would enter the top250 at some point.
i vent seen this film, but maybe i am also not able to understand the quality of this film because of cultural differences...
and imdb-top250 is not just about quality, its also very much about popularity worldwide. and thats also somewhat okay and though i understand that turkish people want to see one of their films in the top250, i dont think this one is really very well known outside of the country
the other reason is... i am quite sure imdb doesnt want to see too much foreign films in their top250. the big studios want to sell their products and i am also quite sure they are somewhat mighty on imdb
we will see!
i would bet some euros (if its possible) that this one will not be found in the list for the 2016-top250-badge
