This movie's actually really fun!

I've had more laugh-out-loud moments than I have with any recent comedy, no exaggeration. After getting used to the kids in place of what I've pictured in my head for a few decades, they grew on me. In fact, I think Bob has a little more character here than he ever did in the books (just a smidgen).

The cinematography's excellent (though there's a few audio/ambient background issues between cuts sometimes, maybe they were pressed for time or something), the dialogue is witty, and I feel like the slight cheesiness is right on par with the books.

Completely and pleasantly surprised, and I have the second movie on order and can't wait to see it. I'm a little disappointed they didn't make a third film—but I didn't even know this movie existed until about a couple of weeks ago!
