John ("Died with a Felafal")Birmingham's "DOPELAND" would be assured an audience of dope heads all over the world. If I had the moola, I'd finance it myself... 8^)

it sounds like a good story, is it still available in bookshops?

Saving Francescca by Melina Marchetta (Looking For Alibrandi) would be fabulous as a film.

I'd quite like to see a book called 'Song of an Innocent Bystander' made into a film. It made the Book Council nominees and I think was a finalist.

It's about a teenager who looks back on a siege of a fast food restaurant that was taken over by a madman where she was the little toddler the crazed gunman held most high and almost made her believe all his mad babble about 'sick corporation puppets' and such.

And the heroic staff manager of the restaurant, who got locked in the cleaner's closet from my rememberance by the gunman and communicated only to the outside through the little girl via napkins with messages written on them.

Very powerful book. Great read too. :-p

I think Guitar Highway Rose would be pretty neat.

i think nick earls' "after january" would be tops as a film - so long as they kept it set in the early 90s with the fantastic frente references and all.

i know that about a decade ago they were planning on making "tomorrow when the war began" into a movie, but that john marsden was unimpressed with a bunch of changes they were going to make to characters (and maybe plot). if he could do it himself (or have a lot of control) it would be a fantastic mini-series. really good quality, on SBS. yeah! i'd watch that.

I'd also like to see "guitar highway rose" and "on the jellicoe road" as films!
