I am not going to watch this

I am not going to watch this movie because the 16 y/o Dan is played by,
you guess, a 22 year old actor.

Come on - write a story about a 22 year old, or use a 16 y/o actor.
And don't tell me that the actor looks 16 - he doesn't.

How pathetic...

reply

was he really 22? Wow. He doesn't look that old...although he does look older than 16...

I have nothing to say and I'm saying it and that is poetry

reply

ummm...if they used a 16 year old actor then the whole film would have had to be changed because of laws in which those under certain ages can't participate in certain types of scenes, including those that take part in the movie...plus movies do it all the time..get used to it

reply

Yes, and I'm never going to watch Star Wars again because apparently R2D2 and C3PO aren't real robots.

reply

WEll alot of actors are never their real age.
thirteen? played by a 16 and a 15 year old.
They always are older.
Look at harry potter!! Not one of them is the real age. And albus dumbledore? hello he's meant to be 150!? do you know many 150 year olds?

reply

Haha DonkeyCorleone What an awesome point!

That also means you can never watch teen movies, american soap operas.. the list goes on and on.

Oh well, you're the one missing out I guess.

reply

they weren't???? you mean C3PO was just a guy in a suit???!!!

reply

tbh i thought he looked about 14 , haven't got a problem with the casting, seems a strange reason to refuse to see a film. A film which i thought was a sweet, and funny coming of age movie, with strong performances from all the leads.

reply

Yeah it's true that he definitely did not look 16 in many parts of the film, but using older actors isn't exactly exclusive to this film.
I mean, in Grease, Stockard Channing was like 30 playing a 17 year old, and that's heaps worse than a 6 year age difference.

reply

I thought the guy looked like he could have been 16

reply

I think it's a bit silly to refuse to watch this movie because a 16 year old character is played by a 22 year old actor.

Having said that, i think that the actor was unable to portray a 16 year old... a lot of his mannerisms and the way he talked made him seem much older which annoyed me.
