Rape Scene

I really like this movie. I've just seen it at the film festival in Istanbul. What I can't understand is the rape scene. What is the significance, and why is it so brutal? I can understand the brutality of any kind of rape scene. The problem is that this scene doesn't fit with the rest of the movie. The movie wasn't a movie of extreme or excess, however, this is the most brual rape scene I've seen. If the movie were more excessive in other areas, it would make more sense.

Hence the genre: Comedy / Drama
No comedy can have a scene like this.
This movie is at most Drama / Comedy, in my opinion jus Drama, because in the movie is very little to laugh about. People don't get what they expect based on genre.

I agree with picnik too. In mi opinion, it's not really a comedy. What I think the director it's trying to say is that death can be funny until someone you love (friends, family...) is touched by her. That's exactly the moment where comedy changes into drama.
I must say this rape scene is the most brutal one I've ever seen on a film, probably because of tha lack of noise...

I agree with picnik and pal_gjn the rape scene is pretty upseting; and the movie goes from comedy, to bitter, to violent and dark....just like life (in some cases)...in my opinion Odgrobadogroba had everyhting to a GREAT movie and got a little bit lost while the movie grows....
