Why don't more people know about this anime?!?!?!

I have talked with many anime lovers, fanatics, I have talked to people who are obsessed with anime, I have talked to people who just think its okay. But one of the things that a lot of these people have in common is that they have never herd of this anime! The only people I have talked to that like this anime, let alone herd of it, have been on this site. Why is that? This is one of the greatest shows ever! Is it becuase it's an OVA? Is is becuase it's never been on Western TV? I just don't get it.

I believe this anime was broadcasted over the air , not Original Video Animation. The anime is great, however ,it may be a bit harsh and violent to some people even though they're anime-lover. Anyway I wish they could make another season.

You know some series I think that they shouldn't drag out, Like Inuyasha -_-" It should have ended 2 years ago. Any who this one needs to continue! It had like no ending. GG was an OVA in the west, it was on Japanese TV though

Seems to me like these days all people are up in arms about crappy shows like Naruto and such, and totally overlook the real gems like this show.

Well said. lol It's a shame.

Excellent anime, but kind of under the radar. All we can do is spread the word.

For christmas a friend of mine new I enjoyed anime from time to time, but I'm not a big fan of it for say. Anyhow, he gave an anime that looks ok, but I wasn't feelin to watch it. Since he got me in the mood, I decided to go and check out what was out there and saw all these anime DVD's I hadn't a clue what to get and just layed eye's on Gunslinger Girls. A little girl and her gun...Intriguingly worth the buy. Awesome anime.

I had never heard of Gunslinger Girls until I came across on itunes. After watching the first 2 episodes, I immediately downloaded the remaining 11. Insecure, part cyborg little girls shooting the *beep* out of bad guys. You gotta love it. It's definitely a must have. Let's cross our fingers and pray that Hollywood never touches this.

i like naruto, but i really wish they'd show gunslinger girl
i'm getting sick of naruto really, these fillers are getting on my last nerve. but, i found this website where some of the episodes are, i use to watch it on funimation but they barely ever play it, could they at least show it on adult swim where they show all the other animes

I first saw the show on IFC (Independant Film Channel) which is a channel most people dont have or no about but it was playing and it watched and i loved everything about the show. and with that said they IFC no longers shows it. Unless it gets on a main stream channel it wont get as much exposure as Naruto or Bleach.

I agree that this show is terribly underrated, even among anime fans. It's one of the best anime of the last decade, especially the first season. I would point out, though, that it actually has been shown on Western TV; it had a brief run on IFC (the Independent Film Channel) a few years ago, and it looks like at least one person here discovered it because of that.

I just discovered this. I watched both seasons on youtube.

It's indeed brillant. I love it. Action, drama, character development in a crime setting, sprinkled with a sci-fi element.

It reminds me of the tv version of LA FEMME NIKITA. The show seems to be about fighting bad guys, but the themes are much more about the human condition, especially human relationships.

I like other anime/manga that have crime themes: GOLGO 13, BLACK LAGOON and NOIR. Add this one to the list.

Not to sound harsh or anything, but word doesn't get out because networks prefer garbage for morons, like Sponge Bob Square Pants. You have to go looking for good content- it doesn't come to you.

Western Entertainment is derivative garbage for morons. Part of the blame lies squarely on the shoulders of people like George Lucas and Stephen Spielberg. Both of them are as dumb as a bag of hammers. Take away their Industrial Light And Magic eye candy and you're left with bad acting, shallow characters, simplistic plots, and their work as a whole is an insult to one's intelligence.

I'm still waiting for someone to make a great science fiction movie, myself. Something with eye-popping special effects, yes, but a million-dollar script to go along with it that challenges the intellect. Even Stanley Kubrick, who made 2001 A Space Odyssey, wasn't the sharpest pencil in the drawer. For some reason the business just can't attract intelligent people. Your average Hollywood type is a driven businessman with a brain the size of a pea. Great at raising money for projects, access to makers of excellent eye-candy, but zero talent for genuine creativity, and no eye for a great script. That's why American movies are so inferior.
