Something J.R. said on the WM22 DVD

I recently got my copy of WM22 on DVD, even though it took ShopZone like a month and a half to send it out. What's up with that sh*t, anyway? I could see if it was a mail order and I had to send in a check, but I used my credit card, therefore bypassing the time needed for a check to reach the ShopZone offices and it still took forever and a day.

Anyway, as I was watching the DVD, I noticed during the Mickie/Trish, Angle/Orton/Mysterio, and Cena/HHH matches, when the supposed crowd favorites (Trish, Mysterio, Cena) were being booed, J.R. repeatedly commented on how hostile the crowd was, and during the Mickie/Trish match said, "These people are actually cheering Mickie James!" The tone in his voice suggested that there was something wrong with that. Yes, Chicago has a well deserved reputation for being a hostile wrestling city. I should know, I live in Chicago. But I was really ticked off when J.R. insinuated that fans should only cheer for the "favorites". Why? Because I am a loyal WWE fan and paying customer. I paid good money for my WM22 tickets, therefore I have the right to cheer for whoever I want. I cheered for Triple H over John Cena because I like Triple H. If I want to cheer for Mickie James over Trish, I will and there's not a damn thing anyone can do about it.

On a related note, I have purchased my WM23 travel package, so I will be at Ford Field and you can bet your ass that I will cheer for whoever I want. By the way, anyone else purchased their travel package yet?
Schadenfreude's a bitch, ain't it?

Cena was booed coz he sucks and yes your right, people are entitled to cheer for who they want. It makes me sick how the wwe try and force fans to like they guys/girls who are supposed to be good guys

I think part of what it was, was the fact that Mickie got such a possitive reaction from the crowd. I don't think anyone was expecting that (I know I wasn't, and I was also there, cheering for Mickie actually). I agree with you that they shouldn't care about who we cheer for. Outside of the people who are doing the cheering cheering, who really cares? Anyways, if they really care, everyone cheering for Mickie should be the least conserning one. Shouldn't everyone have been cheering Rey on, not Orton (I booed Rey). Also see you at WrestleMania 23. I got a platinum package. Finally I just want to say that I found myself on the WM 22 DVD. I'm right after Mickie vs. Trich actually, right after Mickie bends down to blow a kiss at Trish. I'm the guy with the camera next to the "Oh Mickie Your So Fine" sign.

But it was almost the entire building that was cheering her. I was there, it was seriously like 90% of the people cheering for her. Again I was cheering for her, and I'm from Indiana. It's just something with Chicago. It's always a very vocal wrestling city, and a lot of the times, it's against who we're supposed to be cheering for.

Mickie James got cheered because she's the best female WWE wrestler around (Trish Stratus, Lita, and Victoria are also great). I'm from Chicago, and was at WrestleMania 13. We don't accept *beep* wrestling, and just as we embraced Steve Austin's hard work in that match, we accepted Mickie James as a top-notch Diva who earned her spot. Chicago RULES!

I know this thread is long dead, I just want to point out something that J.R. has said on his blog many times since WrestleMania 22 about this very topic. I guess to paraphrase it, he said, as long as the fans pay for their tickets, he doesn't care who they root for. He prefers that they root for the good guy, but if they want to root for the heel, that's their prerogative, as long as they care about what is going on in the ring.
