I don't know about you guys, but i thought that the actor playing the younger Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger (Now Pope Benedict) bore an uncanny resemblance to the real man. Even before Voight said his name, I knew who it was.

Yeah. My wife and I noticed that too. I wonder where they got him. And Pope Bennedict liked the movie too (and perhaps liked the way he's portrayed as well).
shareActually I know him personally. He's a theatrical actor and director although nowadays he's concentrated mostly on directing. They chose him mostly because of the resemblance and also because he can speak English and the other candidates couldn't.
shareHe looked the part but he didn't sound the part. Mgr Ratzinger has a higher pitched and gentle voice. It was a great movie.
shareMikolaj Grabowski is his name. He is well known in Poland, although mainly thanks to his rather "comedian" image (sic!). Based in Krakow, Poland.
