Alexander reminds me a LOT of Guybrush Threepwood from the Monkey Island game series...

It's probably just a coincidence in piratey outfit designs and similar hairdos, but that was the first thing I thought when the movie started. (I'll admit to having been playing through MI3 and MI4 again over this past weekend, but even if I hadn't been I'm sure I would have thought the same thing.)
