buckwheat bathing the pope...

...is an image that alone makes this film worth viewing.
Harmony Korine is a true visionary, painting works of art with film.

i wholeheartedly agree. that image stuck with me the first time i watched the film.

the sammy davis jr dancing on top the castle part is amazing too.

reply

it's not my favorite image in the film but it's definately memorable.

best part for me was the long dreamy sequence when the nuns are falling (for the first time iirc) and Marilyn's dress goes *wooops* in the forest. :)

i felt that every minute there was an image that stuck with me.

the flying nun sequences were particularly memorable; buckwheat bathing the pope; the boat ride to the castle; herzog & the flower-man; larry, curly, & moe w/ shotguns going towards the flock of black sheep; the pan across all the characters in the room w/ the boat in the middle, piano on the right...
just to name a few.

I wish people could get over trying to find plot or purpose in a film like this. It is surrealism & cinema as a subversive art, not this Summer's Hollywood blockbuster...

Yeah, another image that stuck with me was Abraham Lincoln with the basketball and the strobe light.

We all deserve to die. Even you, Mrs. Lovett, even I.
