Movie with somewhat similar style...

Yes, I agree. Just watched both of these movies.

I do agree that Sin Nombre has a similar plot line about the struggle of immigrating illegally to the U.S. However, that movie pretty much STOPS with the arrival of Sayra in the U.S. Paraiso, however, shows the aftermath of the arrival, the trials and tribulations of the immigrant after finally making it here. Plus I felt that it focused much more on his obsessive desire to find the woman that he thought was his true love. You didn't see that as a driving force in sin Nombre because the couple was together all the time and were only separated by Casper's death.

El Norte is another excellent movie on the same theme.
